The upgrade to the latest firmware 5.2.3 went very well in my case.

I have followed the instructions from the following post http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showpost.php?p=642510&postcount=413

After changing the QOS Policy to: ON when phone in use, i am no longer limited to 256 kbps for Upload when the pone is not in used.

Speed tests with www.Speedtest.net have been able to confirm the improvements.

Hello,
My phone has been working great for the past few weeks so it was a surprise when I realized all incoming calls were going straight to voice mail. My provider will not call me back so I have no idea if it a problem on their end or my end.

I am using a Linksys WRT54GP2. Has anyone else had this problem or have any suggestions.

I ma also thinking of switching providers any thoughts on who is the best in Edmonton?

Thanks Rod

If I experienced your problem with my provider (Primus) I would assume that either the number of rings before going to voice mail had somehow been set to zero, or that there was something that was making the system think that the connection between my ATA and the VoIP gateway had been lost. But I expect that your problem is different.

Sorry I can't help you. Perhaps someone here knows a fix for your problem.

Hi Lean22,

I have been using wrtp54G-NA for while. It works just fine except one thing. For some reason if I receive the very first call in the morning and pick the phone up – I cannot hear anything. If the same caller does the second call in 5 - 10 sec – no problem at all. During a day it works fine if you use it – if you put calls and receive calls. But if you do not use it for while – the same story – the first call does not go through. I tried to find a solution – I could not. I tried to change the sync time - it did not help.
Any idea

Unfortunately I don;t think the Motorola VT has this option in the menu. Seems to be set by CIA. For the past month my upload is now capt at 250kbps. :(

Hello,
I have swapped my voice terminal from the Motorola VT 1005 to the Linkys SPA 2100. Since then the voice quality has dropped. I went in the web menu with the user account and noticed the QOS is disable. Anyone knows the admin password programmed by Cybersurf? I would like to enable it just like it is with the VT 1005.
I would like to try the swap again. Anyone with the admin password for the Motorola SPA2100 ? thanks.

I'm having a problem with my SPA-2102. I keep losing my phone service every couple of days or so. The Phone 1 light will go out and I have no phone service. The internet still works. I have to unplug the power cord to the SPA-2102 and plug it right back in and the phone service comes right back. Why do I keep losing my phone service every couple of days?

Cable Modem --> SPA2102 --> Computer
(no router)

Did any of you know that the 100 credit they put on your long distance bill when you first signed up actually expires. I just finished talking to the billing guy and he said the promotion didnt have an expiry date but hey we just decided that we are going to get rid of it this month.

I checked, there wasn't any expiry date on the orignal promo and they didnt post or send anything stating that it had or could expire at anytime.

A credit to your bill is a credit to your bill, it wasn't like a coupon or something. I was waiting to finish using up the credit before leaving so bye bye crapy CIA.

My last 3 calls to CIA were answered in less than 2 minutes (by dialing 611 help desk).

One small billing issue with the purchase of my equipment. The rental fees had not been removed.

The internet speed (videotron) is approx 6.5 (max is 7). I used to get 3.4 on 5with DSL Sympatico. No issues to report.

I did upgrade to the latest firmware more than a month ago. The phone line is working fine. The quality is usually very good. The first month, i had to reset my VT a few times, but none in the last 4-5 weeks.

I have made one long distance call to see if the 3 cents/minute was accurate, and it was.

I have yet to make #93 or 3way call work for me, but since these are options i did not have before, i don't mind if they are not available. I will look into this with another friend that just got CIA.

I also have a $4.95 CIA Voip phone and noticed that this morning no dial tone.

Reset the unit and still no dial tone.

The motorola voip router does get a ip address and can access the internet through the router.

Update came back home at 5:30pm and its back up. Guess cia had server problems.

I don't know why so much attention is attached to the CIA service in the Broadband Telephony area of this forum?

Is there any reason? There are other VOIP suppliers you can consider.

I'm an employee with CIA, and actually had the service prior to that. Never have I had any problems, and my phone has always worked. I know some have complained about there being long wait times to speak to someone, but that would be in the dec 07-Jan 08 area, since than, so many staff have been employed that agents are actually waiting for calls instead of the customer waiting for agents

I have called other providers (which will be unnamed) in the last few months to do research, all three I had to wait on hold for 20 mins plus. I understand its easy to scrutinize, but make sure if you do your informed of all extenuating circumstances.
Well, if agents are actually waiting for calls instead of customer waiting for agents, then i must have the wrong number. I did not get the line in my last attempts.

Also, i have been waiting for well over 6 weeks to have my number from Bell transfered over.

I ordered CIA High speed internet service anh Cia local phone in 2006.They sent me a Motorola modem and phone istallation kit.I'd tried to have internet in service first but never succeeded.Called support and never got answer.
After 3 weeks trying in vain,I emailed CIA to cancel service.I also returned modem and phone kit ,Cia didn't even confirm .And they con tinue charged my credit cart a month after ,even I'd never connect to internet.
I kept calling them every day for weeks from my home phone .At last I used my cell to call them (1 877 743-8242) and got answer. They agreed to refund and untill now almost 2 years I've never got my refund.
Long story ,right. But I just give everyone warning to deal with CIA.

The service is unreliable, but I learned to live with that. Now I have found an alternative and they keep denying my number being ported to new provider. These guy's have no class. They will screw you however they can. I suggest no one ever deal with this company. I am getting more pissed off everyday and about to go ballistic on this crap company! Just a warning, I am an IT prof. and was able to deal with the day to day issues but I am really disturbed at how they are dealing with my account leaving.

If you deal with this company ... have fun :)

Hi to all concerned

I experienced Caller ID problem from many months, called cia, no solution,
Today I accessed my SPA 2102 as user and admin I reset the date and time was wrong (1/04/2003) manually it shows ok now.

Can anyone help to Auto update time and date in Spa 2102 ,Version:5.2.3 Hardware Version:1.0.5 ?
Like other Router do, they grab time from computer or from any time related web site.

Thanks in Avance
