Cause the optical connector, which is part of the component cables is too thick/bulky to plug in if you have the HDMI port used up. Basically you can either plugin the component cable w/optical dongle or HDMI cable at once. Can't have both in together; that's where the seperate audio dongle that the Elite comes with is useful.

I live in Scarborough, and the closest one to me (and I would assume you as well) is the one in Ajax. Yeah, not ideal, but for me, about a 15 minute drive.

There's a superstore at Don Mills and Eglinton. That might be closer than the Ajax location, but depends how deep East in Scarborough, you are.
