: Mario Kart for Wii comes on April 27th
heypeterman 2008-05-07, 05:01 PM I just have to find a way to beat my wife. She always beats me on this game.
I'm in the same boat although my wife has played every Mario Kart game since the franchise started and I've only played casually.
Juperman 2008-05-18, 10:19 PM I know this game has to be amazing.
Any detailed thoughts? I'd love to hear what you guys think (looking to be swayed to buying it :D). I'd need a Wii first!
juperman, my advice is find a way to play the game. In a few minutes, you'll either love it or hate it. For detailed reviews, check out gamespot or similar site which has detailed reviews.

My daughters friend had a copy and brought his over. We/I played it for hours. It is very fun and addictive, (didn't want to put it down). The amount of courses and challanges that are in the game are seemingly endless. I previously purchased remote peripherals like (baseball bat golf club and tennis racket) I purchased 2 kits and they came with sterring wheels. These worked fine with the game and the "B" button can easily be accesed on the remote without the need for the Wii sterring wheel. My kids got a kick out of it (7 and 4) and I got a kick out of it as well. Definately worth at least a rental.
jshel101 2008-05-20, 09:44 AM My wife had beaten the 50cc and 100cc classes. She is just about finished the 150cc class. I have yet to finish one. Maybe it is because she is always playing this and I don't get a chance to. lol
Lurker 2008-05-27, 10:16 PM In case anybody is wondering about how much fun this thing can be, just watch this video of a first-time racer.....:D

dosborne 2008-05-28, 07:30 AM Someone should have told her she doesn't have to steer when using the "bullet" lol
"Look at me, I'm awesome" - yeah, it's easy to be awesome when the computer is speeding past everything and driving for you :)
The motions (raising the wheel to the ceiling), screaming and such are almost identical to the way my wife plays.
dosborne 2008-05-28, 07:34 AM i use the wheel when playing with wife and kids (it is more fun), but been using the mote and chuck for serious play
Maybe we should poll to see what most players use?
I tried the remote/numchuk but didn't really like it. Maybe it takes some getting used to. I use the remote by itself. I just hold it as if it was in the wheel.
My wife starting using the wheel, but has since reverted to using the remote by itself as well. Since we have the rubber grips, it makes using the wheel a pain in the you-know-what.
I didn't watch all of this but what I did see was typical of most who have tried it at my house.
It really should be required viewing for all the PS3 and XBOX 360 ******'s who say the Wii is a fad etc.
(P.S. I have two PS3's so dont' flame me)
Angelfish 2008-05-28, 01:14 PM Most non gamers should just be able to pick up the game and play without problem. Looks to me like she was having fun with the game. Isn't this why games should be maid?

For online competitive play I use the gamecube controller, and find it offers superior control compared to any of the wiimotes options!
MrWisker 2008-05-29, 09:24 AM In my house the wheel is the big winner. I love it and have no issues with control. This game is a blast to play with the kids.
Just wanted to say that I went up against my eight year old son last night for eight races and actually won two. I'm very proud of myself!
The weird thing is I can kick his butt on Mario Kart Double Dash on the Gamecube but he whoops my sorry butt on Mario Kart Wii.
