Last summer in a supermarket parking lot I watched in horror as one of those abandoned carts was propelled by a gusting blast of wind about 100 feet into a lady's car.I also have noticed this. 99% of carts have a mind of their own in the store, one wheel drags its butt, one wheel flops around like a windmill and wants to head into the shelves instead of where you direct it and yet they freewheel with the greatest of ease across the parking lot. They also are attracted to the centre of the lane when you are loading the trunk and you have to chase it. :p sailmaker

I'd like to personally pistol whip modern-day parking lot designers. For the last ten years or so, stall sizes have been steadily decreasing.Agreed, although the people who really deserve pistol-whippings are the developers who build houses on lots that are only marginally larger than parking lot stalls...

Its a shame Bubbles doesn't recondition the shopping carts everywhere instead of just the ones near the trailer park..... hehehehe

Have you been to the T&T plaza on Steeles/Warden??
That place deserves its own thread!!

Guys,

On numerous occasions, I've had women pull up next to me, just as I park myself. I once asked a particularly good looking female, why she chose to park, right next to me. Her reply 'I wont lie, cause you seem cute and I wanted to get a closer look at you and your car'

This exchange resulted in several Date's that had Favorable results, enough said. ;)

Don't underestimate the girls, if they park next to you. They could be scoping you out.

Cheers

I'm not sure if mental handicaps qualify someone for a blue wheelchair sign for their car - I don't think that's the case in B.C.

Also keep in mind that many handicaps are invisible to the casual viewer, so let's be clear that we are not in any way poking fun at disabled or handicapped people here.

Did she lift your wallet while she said it?
I got nailed today, had to climb over the shifter to get behind the wheel. I left them a memento.

The mentally handicap statement, I am sure, was a joke

I am not 100% positive this person was not disabled. He came walking out of the store pretty fast. He also climbed up into his pickup truck pretty quick too, which was high off the ground. My main comment was the idiotic way in which he parked his truck.

Is it me or has parking spaces gotten smaller? I have been driving for about twenty two years and I think they are smaller. Watching television shows from the 1970s like Rockford Files the parking spaces were huge.

I know cars back then were larger and wider, like a boat. :@

I just pictured Cannon getting out of his Lincoln Mark IV.

I was parked at a clinic parking lot. I could see the side street clearly.

A car was attempting to parallel park. He hit the rear car to move it back a bit, and he hit the front vehicle as he was straightening his car out. Just like Mr. Bean.

As he was walking by me I just stared at him in disbelief. What was I suppose to say? He was an older gentleman, I say in his mid seventies.

They probably would not even notice the damage until they got home.

I'm sure parking spaces have gotten smaller, especially in the urban areas. When I drove across the USA last summer I really enjoyed parking in spots that actually gave you room to get in and out of your vehicle! Parking spaces across the continent are definitely not equal.

BTW, able-bodied people who purposely abuse handicapped parking spots should be taken out and hung by their thumbs :p.

The lot in front of a local Shoppers Drug Mart has an odd quirk: in big white letters are the words "Small Cars Only" but the problem is that all of the slots say that!

At least they're being honest about the size of them, I guess.

If you can find a place to park, Costco has the nicest and largest parking spaces I know of. They put a 1 foot buffer between each spot so you can park easier and get your stuff in the car afterwards. The only trouble is finding one of those nice spots as the lot is always... well a parking lot packed to the limit.

He hit the rear car to move it back a bit, and he hit the front vehicle as he was straightening his car out. Just like Mr. Bean.I feel sorry for the elderly man, but he shouldn't be driving if he is hitting other vehicles. I witnessed a middle aged man back up into a 90's GMC truck, and put a dent in the bumper. It actually imprinted the mans Land Rover embossed bumper onto the GMC's salty bumper. The guy got out of his Land Rover, checked his bumper, and drove off

I wrote down his licence plate, and gave it to the GMC owner, and pointed out the damage, and where the Land Rover had gone to at the next door grocery store. He went and waited for him to come out, and gave him a piece of his mind, and told him he felt like calling the Police for leaving the scene of an accident.... He ended up forking over $200 cash, and apologized profusely

If you hit someone, have the courtesy to own up for it, big or small parking spot

I just got home from a supermarket visit in which I saw a lady with a kid hand in hand walk directly across the path of a big, red pickup truck that was clearly backing up with working reverse lights. It was in motion, yet she and the kid casually crossed about a foot behind it. She was totally oblivious... thankfully the pickup driver saw them.

Well I don't like it when people are too lazy to put their buggies away at the shopping malls.

It was starting to snow quite heavily on Tuesday evening at the Walmart and could barely see and lightly hit a shopping cart (I was so freaking - my car is pretty new - but I was lucky) as it was in my pilar blindspot and the snow was coming down quite good and foggy windows, etc. I'm usually pretty good at scoping things like this but it was a long day. :o

There's no excuse for this - people should put them away. What if it was their car. I was just thinking of those VW ads from a couple of years with the runaway shopping cart.
