Detroit's RF50 ION 31-1 has been in and out from time to time due to WEAO co-chan here. During these times though, WVPX 23-1 also comes in good to fall back on, so technically no loss of ION programming because of it.

Phil81, from your location, is WVPX reliable? Or just during tropo?

Before WUDT went back to 23 recently, WVPX happened to be almost always decodable (a 1MW torch) every time I checked. It's 89 miles away. But now it takes above average conditions or a little bit of tropo to overcome WUDT's weak interference in the area and have a chance at WVPX once again.

It sure is easy though to spot this now that WPXD is on 50. It can go from 100% quality to nothing very quickly indicating stronger conditions kicking up from the Akron area were WEAO is located. WNWO-49 is also not possible when WEAO,WVPX are coming in in due to WDLI-49. This area sure has plenty co-channel to deal with.

Right, I forgot WUDT messed up that signal. Sounds like you need to build some sort of null on your antenna to block RF23 when you are pointed towards Ohio.

Could anyone confirm status of CIII-22 I just had a tower put up today and I can't seem to get it locked in, or even found.

I checked the tvfool directions on all the channels that are coming in and they all seem to peak within a couple of degrees of what is listed, but 22 seems to be AWOL right now

Phil81 will have the best bet on what is going on, but if you look back in this thread over the last few months I believe that tower has had its share of problems.

CIII-DT22 has been off the air since around 4pm Fri Jul 27. Since then I have been seeing WFXP and WNEM here and there in place of it.

Probably would have posted about it being off air earlier, but I kinda wanted to see how long it would take for Global to notice it themselves. Given almost a week, I guess they don't monitor their OTA repeater stations all that much unless someone alerts them about it.

OK thanks Phil I was kind of expecting that but from my crap setup where 22 was a rarity, to new(very new) setup. I wasn't sure if something had been missed, I did also get WNEM for a think an hour that knocked out normal CIII.

Hey Octopod - tell us about your new set-up and how your reception is over there in Chatham now. :)

To all that do not know, CBC has shut down all of its analog transmission lines in Canada. Forever

You are not having problems. CBLN-TV-3 on RF 55 (CBC repeater in Chatham of CBLT Toronto) and CBLFT-10 on RF 48 (SRC repeater in Chatham of CBLFT Toronto) both seized broadcasting in analog as of 11:59pm on July 31, 2012.

Further discussion of the analog shutdown of CBC transmitters should be directed to the following thread: CBC's OTA Future, 2012: Discussion (http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=153161)

The closest CBC affiliate in the region is one of CBET on RF 9 from Windsor or CBLT on RF 20 from Toronto. The closest SRC affiliate is CBLFT on RF 25.

Current setup is a U8000 and 5y713 approx 40' up CM7777 and 9521 rotor. Which is alot better than the CM 2016 I had half way up the house pointed at the corner of the neighbours house.

Anyone in east windsor getting WTOL 11.1.2 or WTVG 13.1.2.3 from Toledo and if yes .....what ant setup are you using.

Im aiming at getting a ant craft HBU 44 or 55.Id like the smaller HBU44 if anyone thinks will work for those 2 vhf ch.

Now that the tropo has been less, have lost them most times.Current ant wont do it.

Im also shooting through quite a numb of trees in sw direction of towers.

thx

Hello, I live in Sarnia Ontario and I was extremely sad to see CBC and TVO shut down on July 31. I used to get 6 channels, lost two a couple years ago, now two more (my 2 favourites) and I've only got Global and CTV left, and according to this site those will be shut down Aug 31/2012.

I have used exclusively OTA television since 1997 and I really hate that I have to give it up now.

I purchased a digital tuner and a new antenna with a 50-KM range so I could continue to use OTA television. On those I only can receive one channel (it says CHCH2) apparently from Hamilton, and it comes in poorly. No other channels. I spent nearly 200.00 in equipment for nothing! If you live in Sarnia and use bunny ears, save your money. There are no digital TV channels in the area.

Am I correct in assuming that no further digital channels will be added, and I now have to subscribe to cable or Netflix if I want to watch TV past Aug 31?

In Sarnia you should be able to get all if not most channels from detroit, decent chance of getting CBC from Windsor and probably TVO from CHatham total about 16-20 channels
You should post your tvfool report

tvfool signal locator in google

A properly selected antenna system in Sarnia should yield at the least some Detroit market channels. I do agree that rabbit ears type antenna's won't do good unless you are in a top floor of an apartment building facing the proper direction towards the desired market.

If you go back further in this thread, I think around winter time there was a fellow DHCer who was in Sarnia as well and did a proper setup to get Detroit stations. There was a feeling at the time he could also get stations from London however if memory serves he was only interested in the Detroit based stations.

Only London stations I'd count on from Sarnia are CHCH and CFPL. The Detroit stations should come in with an outdoor antenna. CBET looks like somewhat of a longshot based on the maps I have seen.

CIII has plans to convert, not sure about CKCO.

I think this person may have an analog TV. If that is the case, get a converter, so that you can get the the rest of the channels you have been missing
