Anyone else been experiencing picture issues on both HD and SD channels this past few days?

I've been in contact with Shaw and a Tech is being sent out this week, but I'm curious to know if others are experiencing similar issues. Audio also drops out more often that before.

Rather than try to explain the problem, here are a few photos. Most of the SD channels are fine, while most HD channels have the issue and CTV HD (210, 217) is totaly screwed (although Shaw is aware of CTV apparently).

And CTV HD, by far the most screwed -- no audio at all:

You have a signal issue my friend, time to get a tech out.

See the following thread for checking the signal strength, S/N ratio, proper setup of the STB, etc.

If you have any splitters or other upstream items, perhaps you can remove them temporarily, also check the RF-coax cable itself for a good connection, or replace it temporarily.

On a side note, I've noticed that same problem occurring just this past week. Others have complained of more problems this week in the Shaw Sound Drop-off thread, so you're not alone. Certain channels, especially the eastern feeds would pixelate for 5-10 min at a time. It was the worst on Thursday night. It's gotten a bit better since then.

The coaxial cable goes straight from my wall output into the back of my DTC3416, nothing in between.

I've got a Tech coming on Tuesday. It's weird that this would just occur out the blue after 2 months of good reception, isn't it? The issue only exists on certain channels as well. MTV (104) is particularly bad, while IFC (126) is fine.

Just thought I'd follow up -- had the Tech come today, apparently my cable was being split 9 times, whereas the Tech said it shouldn't split more than about 6.

After the Tech installed an amplifier, my SNR went from the 27-area POOR up to about 33 and fixed the issue.

"I understand that Shaw people may not get a reading due to Shaw's method of operating, or preference. Those people will need to use the diagnostics as outlined in post 1."
