I'm in Citadel right behind Country Hills Blvd. I've got a clear view of Signal Hill from my deck. On my laptop with a HVR-950Q using the little dinky antenna it comes with I can get CBC at a SNR of 27. It doesn't show signal strength but it is not getting any errors (it does show error rates). On the main TV upstairs using a home brew 4 element yagi (for 400 Mhz) its showing a signal strength of just under half which is normally good enough. Since the yagi is fixed (non rotatable) at the moment both CBC and CTV are below normal where City and Global are almost at max. Might have to give it a bit of a turn towards the south. Whats the name of that site that shows where the transmitters are and where to point the antenna?

I lost the CBC digital and CTV digital yesterday afternoon. I havent made any changes to my antenna but they both had no signal. I scanned later last night and CTV was back but still no CBC. Im assuming this is just me and not everyone else but wanted to check here first.

I havent scanned again today yet.

My antenna is a 4-bay clone in my attic.

I have had it working until now. and was able to get 9.1 on friday and through most of the weekend. Until Sunday afternoon that is. Maybe im not quite pointed right?

swandive76 - There seems to be some issue with your antenna and/or cabling to it! What is your TVfool location?

Is there a chance of testing your antenna outside up ontop of the roof? From your distance the attic might be gobbling up valuable signal.

not easily. but that is maybe what i need to do.

Funny thing is that I was up and running and then all of the sudden am not. Almost like my house shifted! or the antenna in the attic did.

Check all the connections and the aim just in case. Also it is possible that you may have tested it in ideal conditions the first time but now you're seeing typical conditions.

Hi there,

Is CBC 9.1 broadcasting fulltime now?

I can get all of the other 2.1, 4.1, 5.1 but no signal strength at all for 9.1; still just the good old 9.

If it is fulltime, is it up to full power?

Thank you!

For a while around 4pm today, we were getting CBC showing up on digital 21.11 (yes, 11), and not 9.1, although the analog 9 was still there. Maybe they're just fooling around with the PSIP

Hi Tanker,

Thank you for the advice...I tried that and now it shows up great on 9.1!

Have a great weekend.

I noticed a couple of posts about BC on 9.1 or 21.11. Here's an update of what I've seen today (9 Apr 11).

CBC is on 21.11 (again?) instead of 9.1 (which is where the CBC web site says it should be). Tvfool.com said it should be at 21.1

We are on the top of the hill in Hawkwood, pretty much line of sight to the antenna's in the SW.

Getting consistently good reception of CTV (36.1), Global (41.1), City (49.2). CBC is fine on 21.11 as well. No fiddling with the antenna needed.

I've got a Terk CFDTV1a omni-directional antenna sitting beside the TV on the ground floor.

I work in one of the industrial areas near the airport and thought I'd plug in a plain set of rabbit ears we had lying around (dipoles fully collapsed, horizontal) into the Panasonic TV in our office.
Middle of the room, second floor, but there are a lot of windows facing Broadcast Hill.
Better reception than I expected:
CBRT-DT come in 90-100%.
CICT-DT and CKAL-DT come in around 80-90%.
CFCN-DT clocks in around 70-80%.
Great reception of CJCO-TV on channel 38.
Good reception of CKCS-TV on channel 32.
Fair or worse on CBRFT channel 16.
Horrible on VHF with the short dipoles -- but that's not a surprise. CBRT is the most watchable.

Reception here in Banff Trail is as follows:-

Using an older CM 4228 and large Radioshack Combo unit.

All VHF is very strong and all good pictures.

UHF - Analog

Channel 16 CBRFT - very clear signal.
Channel 32 CKCS - very good signal - slight reflections.
Channel 38 CJCO - strong signal - slight reflections.

UHF - Digital

Channel 21 - 99% - stable but varying signal strength at times 96 - 99%.
Channel 36 - 72% - stable solid picture.
Channel 41 - 89% - stable solid picture.
Channel 49 - 93% - stable solid picture.

Am re-installing my Winegard 9032 antenna soon on a new mast and will report findings.

1st post - I am now receiving 3 OTA HD channels CBC, City, and Global - gear in basement using a 15 year old RCA rabbit ears with a UHF loop - good reception on all 3 channels - Still unsuccessful scanning in CTV - looks like I will have to wait until August.

Welcome here blader. Sometimes there are sweet spots in a basement for certain stations - can you walk the antenna around a bit and rescan for CTV?

Stampeder - tnx for moving my post to the correct forum - I tried your suggestion and was successful at scanning in CTV - however I lost Global and it was very difficult to get City and CBC properly tuned in. So, I rescanned my original 3 to have the ease of channel switching without having to adjust the rabbit ears. The ears are so sensitive to mild changes of direction - even the cable position leading from the ears to the TV affects tuning. Still, it's nice to know that I am so close to receiving all 4 HD channels.

Yep, that's typical. The various pipes, wires, ducts, large appliances, etc. in a basement really cause trouble with indoor reception. Is there any chance of an outdoor antenna?

Stampeder - for my purposes, OTA HD, 3 channels are fine and I'm willing to wait until fall to see if I can pick up more. I don't watch many TV channels in the first place, and then rarely (think 1 hour/month) - am mainly watching movies through my WiFi blue ray player (netflix) and some streaming, by way of my laptop, of TV programs available, on demand, through various channel websites.

Actually, I couldn't be delighted more at receiving the 3 OTA HD channels with excellent PQ, using rabbit ears in my basement. So for the time being an outdoor antenna is not a consideration. Thanks for your attention.
