Elsewhere on this site, there has been mention of some of the other cable companies offering Speed channel in HD. Does anyone know what Access' plans are?

You need to ask them that question. If its announced, you'll here about it here.

I'd much rather they get some NHL Centre Ice in HD and maybe showing SportsNet West in HD instead of SportsNet Ontario.

Those Centre Ice channels are virtually unwatchable on my HDTV.

I've emailed them but I haven't heard a peep back from them.

I havn't heard anything about speed TV but there will be a couple centre ice channels next season broadcasted in HD. Atleast thats what is floating around the call centre.

I was in picking up another STB box today so had an oppt'y to ask. The counter rep didn't have any news and basically said that they've "got their channel lineup for the year" and likely won't be adding new ones until the fall at the earliest. After further discussion, it became obvious that they have no formal process for registering interest other than writing in comments on the back of your monthly payment slip in the "we're listening" area.

The process of adding channels at Access Communications appears to be haphazard at best. They appear to have no idea the process or steps required to do it in a timely fashion. Look at HD-NET which didn't make it to air until nearly a year after the promised delivery date. Other channels they've added swiftly with little advance notice.

It's pretty much random with them.

So the (possible) good news is that with that randomness, they could surprise you and add it tomorrow.

Another trend is they seem to respond when they fall behind the competition. So you could check and see when competitors like SaskTel or Star Choice are launching it, and then add 1-12 months to find out when Access will add it.

This channel is being launched on Wednesday the 19th in Regina and the class 2 systems (weyburn yorkton battlefords etc.) Just received the info today.

Speed HD will be on channel 546

That is good news. I hope the F1 practice feed will be in HD. I enjoy the commentary from Varsha, Hobbs and Matchett, but preferred the HD pic on TSN HD. Maybe I can get the best of both worlds now!!

SPEED HD was launched today in larger Saskatchewan communities by Access Communications.

Access customers in Regina, Yorkton, Melville, Weyburn, Estevan and the Battlefords, who currently subscribe to one of the co-operative’s many HD offerings, will automatically receive SPEED HD at no charge beginning March 20, 2008.
