Hi everyone, I recently purchased the 40 or 42" Sharp Aquos (can't remember which!) and I'm having issues, and I don't know how to fix them, or if they can even be fixed.

When playing my playstation 2 on my TV (I use input 1), whenever the game would get into a relatively dark area or screen, the TV screen compensates and becomes dimmer, making it pretty much impossible to see anything.

I can't change picture settings while in input 1 either, because all the options are greyed out when I go to the picture menu, so they appear to be fixed.

I love the TV already but this aspect is really annoying me. Can anything be done?

What's the model of Sharp? There are are usually several automatic settings which you may wish to turn off, or tone down, like the backlight and "light sensor" which compensates for light in the room, if applicable. See the following thread regarding a proper setup of the TV:

The settings above, may act globally and affect input 1. Have you tried the PS2 on another input, or use a DVD player to calibrate input 1?

And the following post, useful for newbies to the forum:

Hi, I'm 99% sure it's a LC42D43U (42", 720p), I won't know for certain until I get home. As for the DVD player, I will probably get a calibrating DVD from a friend of mine this weekend, I will certainly try a different input for the ps2. It just never really struck me that the inputs would be different in the way that they are set up.

Thanks for those links though... alot of stuff in there I wasn't aware of!
