Was looking for some info here but couldn't find it readily.

Where is the best/worst location for multi-switches and diseqcs coming off the sat dish. Some say close to dish some say it doesn't matter. I figured I'd run them in the basement so a long ways from dish. Then I heard you don't want to have switches too close to each other for RF interference.

Anyhow, if anyone has any recommends, much appreciated.

Well we would never be using Diseqc switch's at all, so in answer to the Multiswitch question, depends on the switch. If it need Power and that power is via a small cord then the switch needs to be indoors as that Power connection will not be weather proof.

If Power Insertion is via the Coax it could be located outdoors but in either instance the Power Suply would be inside.

The DPP items and I suspect the DP ones are Diseqc compliant. Not sure about Legacy.

Regarding the diseqc. Would I not need to have the 91 and 82 going into a diseqc then going to the receiver. Or have the signals coming from sat into multi switch then diseqc to the receivers.

To my original question...is it better to have these non-powered units close to the satellite dish (which is 20 feet above basement), or should i just rig all this up down in the basement.

Thanks

The switch's you refer to are SW21's or SW44's, these are not known as Disecq switch's.

There is not an issue with them at the Dish or in the house, as long as you are not talking 250feet from Dish to receiver it will not matter.

What model receiver are you planning on using.?

The new 9242 HD PVR will come with an SW44 if you buy it from a big box store, you will also get a new Dish as well, most likely.

Just install it behind the Dish, if you have less than 4 tuners. If you will have 4 or are thinking of a 4th in the future, I would run all 4 lines from the Dish inside the house.
