Hi,

Yup, I'm new to this board and this whole lcd/plasma thing, so apologies in advance to the mods if this is in the wrong spot.

Looking at buying a new TV really soon and I have narrowed it down to 2 models, although I am WIDE open to suggestions. (be nice)

I am wondering if there is a way to determine which is the "best" of these 2 sets;

1. Sony kdl46v3000

2. Panasonic TH50PX75

Can I just ask for your opinions (those who have experience with both)? Which one would you buy?

Really not sure exactly what feature I need. I'm looking for reliability, great picture, good price/value etc. Do I really "need" 1080i or is 780 ok.

Beyond that my needs are minimal. I mainly just watch TV and movies and am not a Bluray or whatever enthusiast. I thought I was getting pretty fancy
when I bought a progressive scan dvd player a few years back...

Everything being equal, I would take the Panasonic just because it's 4 inches bigger. Have the store put both TV's side by side and you'll see.
If you watch alot of regular TV, from my experience Panasonic has good SD PQ.
