: Second TV not working properly with Bell HD PVR 9242

I recently upgraded from a Bell 6100 HD Receiver to the Bell 9242 HD PVR. I'm wondering whether something went wrong with the installation:

1) When the installers from Bell came, they did not change my satellite dish. They kept the same satellite dish that originally came with my 6100 and just changed all the wiring, etc. and hooked it up to my 9242. Is this right? Were they supposed to change the satellite dish too?

2) I just tried to hook up my second TV downstairs to the coaxial cable that is connected to the receiver/satellite upstairs. Well, the funny thing is that I thought that with the 9242, that you could watch different programs on both tv's and with the unique remote controls for each tv that you could access the guide and change channels independently of each other. For some reason, when my first tv (the one with the receiver) is turned on, my second tv downstairs does not allow me to change the channel or access the guide. It is like the first TV takes over. I am in dual mode. However, when the first TV is turned off, the second TV can access the guide and change channels. What is wrong ?? I've been so frustrated talking to the Bell technicians on the phone as they just don't seem to know what to do!

Has anyone experienced this? Please help! Thank you!!

Could both tuners be set to the same remote address or both remotes set to the same address?. Tuner 1 and remote 1 should probably be set to "1" while tuner 2 and remote 2 should be set to anything other than "1". The manual will tell you how to check...

1) The dish does not change. They likely changed the switch from a SW21 to an SW44. That is all that is required (along with cabling).

2) Is the 9242 set to dual mode (separate outputs) or single mode (single output)? You need to set it to dual mode if you want to watch different programs on different TVs

Update -- after another hour on the phone with Bell, they determined that it was a bad receiver. So they were going to send me a refurbished receiver to replace the new receiver I just purchased. I did not want a refurbished receiver so I decided just to go back to the store where I bought the receiver and exchanged it for a new one, saying that the one I originally bought was defective. No problems at the store -- brought the new receiver home, hooked everything up, set everything up, and second TV works ! It was a receiver problem after all.

Receiver is in dual mode as well. If you are smart enough to make sure you record the show on 2 first, then you can use 1 to watch something else.

Is this a software problem with the 9242?

I should point out that the installation of the 9242 simply replaced a 9200.

In my case, both tuners are set to Remote Address 1 therefore both the green and blue remote control TV1.

If I set it to dual mode will I need to change the remote address of the second tuner?

How do I change the remote address on the receiver and on the blue remote?

In the case of the 9242 both can be set as remote address 1 because, TV (tuner) 1, is IR and TV (tuner) 2 is UHF PRO only no IR.

The only time they have to be different is when TV 1 is set up for IR and UHF PRO which causes a conflict.

Sorry. Got it.
Was having problems but changed the batteries and was able to put the blue remote to Remote Address 2.
