Installer 2011-05-12, 06:50 AM yes vextra technologies, llc of of claremont,nc produces it, that company is owned by commscope, who applied for the vextra trademark in 2001.
it conformis to:
ul std 444 and is certified to can/csa c 22.2 no.214
but that's my point just because bell hasn't approved it or doesn't have it listed in our NI binders doesn't mean it's not good cable or that it doesn't meet the same standards.
in fact if you set out on a mission to by a peice of rg6 for this application that would not function or would cause any type of problem you'd be hard pressed. especially considering most average joes are going to stroll into there nearest electronics store to by the 20' they need.
Pinza 2011-05-12, 03:56 PM I will stick to my earlier comment;
You should ensure the RG6 is sweep tested/rated for 2.4Ghz
Using "any" RG6 could cause problems as some is only rated for 1Ghz.
hwycrew 2011-05-21, 04:07 PM Hi, just new to forum, read a lot of posts last few days. I've re-wired my house and am trying to cascade using sw34 & sw44 switches. I have a dual bell dish with 4 rg6 runs into basement. I'm I right to assume that I've using Legacy lnbs and I should use a sw44a instead of the 2 sw34. Was using diagram #3. thank in advance
dirtroad 2011-05-21, 04:31 PM From what you are saying, you are doing it the correct way using legacy equipment if you followed post #3. Having the four lines in your basemnt allows you the easiest access to alter things in the future.
I'm not sure exactly what a SW44a is, but having used one once, I suspect it is nothing more that a SW44 with internal splitters, that must be used with a SW44, a SW44a cannot be used alone. So I would recommend to stick with SW44, and other common equipment.
Pinza 2011-05-21, 04:46 PM Post #3 shows the correct layout for 2, 3x4 Switch's and 2 x SW44's.
Post #4 shows the correct layout for an SW44a & SW44.
Both drawings would use Legacy LNBF's.
As dirtroad says, stick to post #3, as SW44a's are not very common.
hwycrew 2011-05-21, 05:07 PM dirtroad, I've tried using diagram #3. Ran the two lines into two sw34 and than into a sw44. No signal. Ran line directly from one sw34 to 9200 receiver, had strong signal. Re-connected to sw44 still no signal. Had power inserter to port #1 of sw44, ran line from power inserter to rec. Disconnected lines from both sw34 and ran directly to sw44. Did switch check ,tv worked
Pinza 2011-05-21, 06:03 PM Can you give me a make and model of the 3x4 switch please.
hwycrew 2011-05-21, 06:59 PM This site is awesome, I changed out my microyal sw44 and replaced it with dish sw44 the one that came with the dish. Did a check switch and both my 9200 and 2700 recognized the switch. Life is great, thanks
Pinza 2011-05-21, 08:35 PM Great news. Thanks for reporting back to us.
gotdrew 2011-07-16, 09:16 AM Can anyone tell me if the ******** switch DG-4401 will work for cascading to a sw44?
Pinza 2011-07-23, 02:25 PM Never tried one but at that price I doubt I ever would.
luck11 2011-08-25, 10:21 AM Hi. Need help laying this out.
I have 6 receivers: 3-9242, 2-6100, old 3100, so I need 9 lines to feed. How would I set this up based on the diagrams in first few posts?
I am thinking an sw34, sw38 and 3 sw44. Would this work?
Thx.
Pinza 2011-08-25, 01:48 PM No.
You would need an 8 Way switch on each LNBF's feeds, then 2 lines from each to each of 3 x SW44's. You would then still have capacity for a 4th SW44.
if you switched to DPP you could do it all with 2 lines from the DPP Twin LNBF, then 2 x DPP44's. Add a DPP Separator at each Dual Tuner and you are away, might be about the same cost but much cleaner.
Interceptor 2011-08-26, 04:34 AM I could be wrong in my thinking but with all SD now on the 91 satellite, I would think that luck11 would need one SW38 (connected to 91), one SW34 (connected to 82) and two SW44s. The two SW44s would handle the 8 HD tuners and the SW38 would connect to the two SW44s plus the 3100 receiver.
Pinza 2011-08-28, 06:55 PM Good point, yes you are correct, as there are no SD channels on 82 anymore that would be an option.

Leeboy 2011-08-28, 09:58 PM Im pulling my hair out trying to figure this out. We have a single 9242 , and 3 other single tuner recievers with one being a 6100. I have 2 high capacity splitters ( one with power pass and the other only has a sinle power pass) and 2 sw44's... Can i pull this off with my equipment or do i need some other pieces? Thanks

Depends on the what kinda 2 high capacity splitters you have, better yet post a picture so we can help you out, but as pinza has posted the picture above might be what you want minus the 3X8, instead you want a 3X4 (Eagle Aspen or Zinwell)

2 x 4 switch's are not expensive, even Princess Auto had them recently for $10 each.
Much better than using splitters IMHO.
Leeboy 2011-09-14, 12:15 AM This is the only switch i could find at princess auto...Will this work?

Pinza 2011-09-14, 06:54 AM Yes that is fine.
