again, thanks. without this forum, I'd still be trying to fish wire through my house for dual tuners!!

One final question. Does is matter which receiver is fed by the power inserter vs. the regular outputs?

Thanks

Mark

HDMark,

I would use one of your dual tuner receiver to output 1.

Neither the DPP LNBF or the DPP44 use Power Inserters.

The DPP LNBF gets it's power from the DP Receiver(s).

The DPP44 has a seperate Power Supply that connects directly to the switch.

Thanks again Pinza.

I'll let you know how everything went when I get the gear>

to avoid confusion I meant to say connect the power adaptor to output #1 and connect one of the dual tuner receivers into the power adaptor.

I've hooked up my DPP44, following the installation guide, but my 9242 only finds one Sat. I'll give the details of my installation and if anyone can offer any advice, it would be much appreciated. I have a Bell dish with a DPP LNBF (Bell installed). I attached the cable from the dish into the DPP44 Sat input No.1. I attached the power inserter to Receiver input 1, then a cable from the power inserter into the DPP separator, then 2 cables into the 2 inputs in the 9242. (The 9242 works fine before I put the DPP44 into the mix). I have a FTA receiver connected to Receiver input No.2. (I had unplugged the power on all receivers and the power inserter before making any connections). I then powered up the power inserter, then the 2 receivers. I then ran the check switch routine on the 9242, but the 9242 does not change the name of the switch to the DPP44 as it says it should in the manual. After this procedure, the 9242 receives all channels on Sat 91 but nothing from Sat 82. The FTA receiver gets all channels from 91. Why does the check switch routine not find the DPP44 and not see Sat 82? Please help.

What sort of LNBF exactly are you using? Bell doesn't generally install DPP equipment!? Also, there should be at least two cables from the Dish to the switch to get both satellites.

It is a dP Plus LNBF. This carries both 82 & 91 in one cable, into the house, then into a dp Plus Separator, which separates the 2 signals and connects to the two inputs in the 9242 receiver. I know Bell doesn't normally install DPP equipment, but the Bell installer said he installs them quite often.

as scrooloose indicated, you need two inputs on the dpp44 switch

what would I use for the second input as I only have one cable coming in from my dish?

BC BEAN,

The DPP twin by itself carries both satellites however as indicated in the very first post "Just like the DP34 it only requires two lines into the switch to get 82 and 91"

Once a twin or quad is hooked up to any switch it deactivates the lnb's internal switch.

The compatible LNBF's are listed in post number one, but it sounds like you need another one at least, or get a DPP twin.

Q,

so are you saying that I cannot use the DPP44 to run 2 receivers off my one dish?

Q
2008-11-01, 07:04 PM
not at all. I am saying you need to run TWO wires. One for 91 and one for 82. If you have only two receivers you don't even need the DPP44 switch but you would still have to run a wire to each one.

Q,

I hope I don't sound too stupid, but I am new at this, so I would sure appreciate your help. Could you please look at the equipment and hookup I have described above and tell me what I need and where everything is connected. I thought the point of the DPP technology was to run a single wire that carries 2 sat signals.

Thanks,
BC

BC BEAN,

I have read what you wrote and I have already told you what is wrong. DP and DPP lnbs do carry two satellites on one line HOWEVER if you hook up a switch then it disconnects the internal switch of the lnb and you need to run two wires into the switch.

Q,

If I put the DPP separator before the DPP44, would that work?

Q

Absolutely NOT!!

So I guess I'm pretty much hooped, eh!

Don't use the switch and your setup will work for one receiver.
