Ok that worked for a little bit but now back to the same problem

Starting to think it is the switch

Hi

re: post 636 and 637

I have switched all cables thru the various ouputs and no matter which one i put on the #1 (power inserter) that particular receiver will only receive 1 sat feed, so this tells me all my cables running to the recvrs are ok

when i unplug the power inserter i lose all recvrs, so this tells me power inserter should be working ok, right?

do you think maybe the short cable run from the sw44 to the power inserter could be faulty? is it possible that this section would only feed 1 satellite?

called Bell - nadda - they wanna send a tech....called the installer - nadda....thank goodness for this site and the support!!

As I said in 637;

Bad cable between Power Inserter and Receiver(s) or bad connector on that Cable.

Still sounds right to me.

After hooking up all my lines to the switch i performed a switch check but a warning came up that said that i now had fewer satellites then before and saving this setting would result in loss of channels. I can t find the satellite signal so not sure if this is related. Thanks.

No idea what switch you have but disconnect it and verify reception on each cable one at a time. Then after connecting them to the ? switch run the "Check Switch" again,

its a sw44 switch... do u mean hook one line up to the switch then run a check switch for each line individually

No, connect directly from LNBF to Receiver, verify each cable.

ok i can do that. How do u know when its verified?

By veify, I mean ensure you know which are 91 & 82 feeds, then make sure that you have the 2 x 91 Feeds on 1a & 1b, the 2 x 82 feeds on 2a & 2b.

I've recently tried to run a check switch and it says that it shows that if I save the results that I will lose channels due to fewer satellites? What does this mean and why is it saying that? My installation hasn't changed. I have a 9200 pvr. Can the 2 cable lines going into the pvr be hooked up backwards? I recently moved the pvr and maybe mixed them up. Does this matter?

No that does not matter.

However it is seeing a problem somewhere, so I would check the MENU, 6, 1, 1 and see if Both Tuners are getting Both Sats, then check the cables.

Pay particular attention to the Power Inserter and the cable from it to the Receiver, if you have the SW44 switch.

If I accidentally put the cable with the power inserter installed into port 2 on the sw44 instead of port 1 would that do any damage to the switch or the receiver? I was checking connections on the switch and I think I may have done this.

If you caught it quick enough you should be OK.

LOL, does the 5 second rule apply to electricity. ;)

It was hooked up that way for maybe about 5 minutes. Not sure what you mean by catching it in time? Or were you just being sarcastic?

duker733, Is your switch still working? Let us know, I don't think it is something that has been documented before, but has probably happened many times.

Ok I went and checked it today. All is good. My coax connector at the end of the cable was all messed up and the center wire wasn't making contact plugged into tuner 2. All working fine now. Thanks for the help.

The longer it is feeding power into the wrong port the more the likelihood of damage, that was what I meant. The SW44 is quite robust, so as you say yours is fine.

re: post 643

so I simply replaced cable between power inserter and the sw44 (short cable), tried that particular recvr again (3100) w/a check switch, and all channels came through.

DC all other recvrs and found that my dual tuner is now messed up...if i select one tuner and turnt he other off it will pull all channels..but as soon as i try to watch both tuners separately (at the same time) one will not work.....this is telling me the cables to all recvrs are fine but there must be something wrong with my sw44......for some reason i cannot get all 4 rcvrs to work properly

If you swap the Inputs on the Dual Tuner, does the problem follow the Cable or Tuner.?

If Cable, then the issue is cable connector or Switch, if Tuner, you have a bad Receiver. If it looks like the cable, etc, swap them next at the SW44, this will prove Cable/Connector or Switch.
