Hi Pinza

Re post: 553.

Thanks for your help on this. I now have it working.

One item to share. In your post (#554), you reference a prior thread (http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=79131). In that thread's diagram (post #3) it looks like two cables are used...one from each side of the DP Plus Twin LNBF. (The DP Plus Twin I obtained has two connectors on one side and one on the other for a total of 3 connections.) I could not get one connection from each side to work. What worked was connecting both cables to the side with two connections (right-side when facing the dish).

Thanks again. :)

If you look closely, the one port on it's own, is actually marked as an Input. The 2 located together are the Outputs.

In Canada, as yet, we do not use the Input, but if Bell were to add another Sat, it would be possible to aim a Dish at that bird, then using a DP LNBF, you could run from that new Dish/LNBF to the Input on the DPP Twin, without changing any other wiring, you will now get all 3 sats on the receivers. Hope that made sense.....

EDIT; I just looked at that image and yes I agree, it is very deceptive.

Hi Pinza

Looking closely would require me to remove it. I'm thinking that it's working just fine now, so I'll just leave it.

Thanks again. :)

Thanks Pinza for your help in setting up my system with the S44 switch.
Everything went just as you said it would. You were right about the power inserter it has to be all the way in.
Thanks again:

My current set up using sw44 - two out put lines going to my 9242 works great. One out- put line going to the powered inserter then to my 5900 works great. one output from the sw44 unused. I

My desired set up - keep the 9242 as is. Junk the 5900 and replace with 6131 HD receiver. The techs tell me I need to run a second line to the 6131 if I want an hd picture, but looking at the inputs on the back of the 6131 I only see 1 satellite in put point, how do I set up the second line for an HD signal.

Thanks for the held!

Just swap out the 5900 with the 6131, as simple as that.

I'm just looking for a little clarification on how to set up the SW44 properly.

Currently I have the dual LNBx2 (91 and 82) and the two lines off each LNB are going into its own SW21 and the output is a single line going into the house on each, one to the 4100 receiver in the living room and one going to a 4100 in the basement. I recently got a 6131 HD receiver/pvr and switched out the basement receiver and now want to have the 4100 in another room.

I have a SW44 but when I connect the 2 lines coming in from outside (via the 2 SW21s) to the 1a and 1b inputs on the SW44 I can receive SD signal on all three receivers but not a HD signal on the 6131, with the 6131 coming off the power inserter and the other two 4100s off ports 2 and 3 of the outputs on the SW44.

A lot of what I've been reading is that I will have to remove the 2 SW21s and run all four lines to the SW44 meaning 2 more holes through the wall which I would prefer not to do.

Is it possible to get the HD signal to work on the 6131 using just the 2 lines coming off the SW21s? I apologize if this post seems long winded I just want to make sure I have all the information about my setup.

Short answer is No, you need to swap out the SW21's for the SW44, then run at least a 3rd line for the other receiver as per Post #2 of this thread;

http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showpost.php?p=682419&postcount=3

You cannot put any kind of switch, AFTER, the SW21's.

I'm having a problem with my sw44 switch I think. Does anyone know of a way to test it as I think it's gone bad. My 9200 was loosing signal on tuner#1and I thought it was from the trees having grown in so I did some trimming but still can't get any reception with the sw44 switch. I do have a signal but when I do a check switch it will not recognize all the LNB inputs. I have a sw21 switch and hooked it up to both sets of LNB's and it shows a signal of about 80% on 91 and 88% on 82. I did this with another receiver(6131) and hooked it up with the cables going to the 9200 with the sw21 switch and it will work so it's not the cables. I'm pulling my hair out here as I have been chasing this for awhile. I have another power inserter and swapped it but no different. Anyone ever have problems with the sw44 switch acting this way. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated before I go and buy another.

Try a different output from the SW44 not #1 with the power inserter, but leave the power inserter on #1.

Hello to all, I tried to find my answer here but may have missed it.

I did have a Bell 24 switch. It had an Antenna input. I plugged my OTA antenna into that and was able to split the signal at the TV with a Diplexor so my the Bell and OTA signal were on the same cable through the walls but slit at the receiver and tv. This worked great 100%.

Now I have bell HD set up and have a SW44. I would still like to pass the OTA signal to some TV's without Bell Receivers but have ATSC tuners. I also want my Bell HD tv's to be able to view the US OTA channels as needed for Superbowl Etc.

The problem is that the SW44 does not have an antenna in connector.

Can anyone recommend a solution for me short of re-wiring my house?

Thanks in advance, I hope I explained my set up clearly.

Matt

The SW44 does not pass OTA, so you have to inject it into each of the lines you want it on, by using a diplexer in reverse, on the receiver side of the SW44.

I also use this to feed the RF output from my receivers so virtually any TV in the system can view what is being watched on any of the receivers.

Hi all, Two questions...I need advice on the simplest way to connect a 2nd. HD receiver (6131) to my dish that is located about a 100 yards behind the house.I have replaced the old SD receiver with the 6131.
Is it a simple as installing another sw21 at the dish (Bell techs did that, not me)and running in a single coax to the receiver?
I hate having the SW21 exposed to the elements as it is now.(lots of grease on the connections)The dish is mounted on a garden shed.I would like to lengthen the coax cables and move the SW21's inside.Good idea,right....or should I get rid of the SW21's and install a SW44 in the house? This setup will cost me a fortune in coax cable, plus the SW44.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
thanks.Rob.

I would get a DPP Twin LNBF. It will replace BOTH existing LNBF's that are on the Dish.

With this DPP LNBF you just run a line to each Receiver, no external switch's, just 2 lines.

The big advantage is that if you decide to go for a Dual Tuner HD PVR in the Future, you just add a DPP Separator behind the receiver, on the single line, then the outputs of the separator feed both Tuners of the 9200/9241/9242.

Seems to me that I'm now the next to have problems with the sw44...
After reading a lot on that thread,I'm sure to be hook up correctly:
4 wires from the dish into my sw44.
4 wires out, #1 and #2 into my 9241 receiver, with the power inserter in between on wire #1.
#3 wire into my other hd receiver.
The signal is strong in both cases.
The coupling test is OK
Still...

When it want to "charge up" the signal reception, it stuck on 2 of 5 display...
So no images comes on screen, only aquiring signal display.
Would it be that the power inserter if defect???

Thanks.
