Glad we figured it out, even though it means another receiver.

Well, as annoying as it is having to reset timers etc on a replacement PVR, what's even more annoying is when bell sends you a dead receiver as a replacement for your dead receiver..

THANKS BELLTV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yes, that happens, more than they will ever admit.....

My first receiver from Bell was a 5900, think I had about 5 in the first 6 months, several were just like yours, DOA.

I purchased a new TV today and I decided it would go in the bedroom, I bought a wall mount for too. Then I went over to the Bell Store in the mall and asked about how I would go about hooking up a third receiver to my system.....I have a 2700 out in the shop and a 4100 in the rec room, was almost ready to buy another 4100 when the lady at the store told me I would have to be very careful not to knock the dish out of alingment while adding my new receiver...so I asked her why was I climbing up there in the first place. She told me I would have to find this $150.00 splitter and go and put it on the dish......Ok so I left and went to the other Bell store.
I got there and explained everything to the lad there......including the fact that I had a dish with the 2 LNB's I think they are one for Bell and one for Star.....so he said I would need a multi-switch with a power supply for about $90.00 so I said cool I'll take one.....last one they had.....
So I came home and I have been messing about now for 4 hours trying to figure this out, and am 5 steps from calling Cogaco and getting them to come and hook me up. Really gald I have not bought that 3rd receiver yet.....
Ok the switch wants me to hook up an 18V SAT in one spot and then a 13v SAT ok but my dish has 4 cables coming out and going to a SW21 there is 2 of them on the back of the dish arm....yea I climbed up and out there to look at the back of the dish...... so ok now what do I do...other then call Cogeco..... I am really not happy right now, and would like to solve this issue.. Can anyone help me out here. Thanks.

I suggest you search 'multiswitch' on this site. The way it works is the receiver drives a voltage to the LNB to set it to either horizontal or vertical polarity, depending on the channel tuned (half of them are veritical, the other half horizontal -- I'm probably oversimplifying things a bit). You've got the dual LBS so you can have one receiver hooked up to each one (a simple splitter will not work if you've got two receivers driving a different voltage to the same LNB -- the higher voltage wins). The way the multi-switch works is that it permanently drives one LNB to horizontal, and the other to vertical, and then switches the receiver to one or the other based on what voltage it is trying to drive. That is why the multiswitch needs to be powered.

You currently have 2 x LNBF's, aimed at 91 & 82 degrees, getting signals from BOTH Bell TV Sats. What you need now is an SW44 switch. Have a read through the SW44 Thread on this Forum.

Basically you will use all 4 lines, 2 from each LNBF into the SW44, this will then provide you with 4 Output Ports, 1 to each of the 3 Sat Receivers.

You would then just run a 3rd cable to your new 4100.

As you are getting signals from BOTH Sats, you could also consider an HD Receiver for the new TV, a 6131 for example.

Return the switch you bought, it is NO good for your situation.

Thanks for the speedy reply's guys and much appricitated the easy explination of what was needed and I have to get.
So went to the Bells store that I bought the splitter at and of course they are closed, ok so went to the mall and the Bell store there.....they did not know what a SW44 was or if they even carried it...so I was sent to the Source, the Bell rep there did not now about anything like that because she is not a TV person she is a cell phone specilist......ok but the one guy from the Source said he knew about them and they were hard to find and really dear in price......
Came home and was looking on line to ere to go next to find one and on Kijjijji I found one.....sent an email off and was thinking a few days and it will be over....phone rang and it was the seller and he was ready to sell and ship to me asap...so I am now waiting for the arrival of the SW44..then it will be another climb to the roof and attach it and then we are set to go......
Once more thanks again....

You're not going to install it on the roof, right?

When/If you get the new receiver, installation may be included, then they will get it all working for you.

The OP already has 2 x LNBF's, so Bell will NOT carry out a Free Installation.

wprager You're not going to install it on the roof, right? LOL...I might not be a techno person, and no I am going to climb up and ever so gently I'll remove the 2 SW21's that are on the dish and unscrew the cables then I will ..praying all this time that I don't fall off the ladder or the roof, and place the SW44 in to place and hope that at least a few of the holes line up properly, but of course they will not so I'll drill a few more...then I'll hook up the cables from the LNBF's and then I'll run the new cal\ble for the third TV and then the one for the power. I have snaked all the cables in and up to the bedroom were the new TV is. But when I go to pick up the new Receiver, I'll see I can talk the Bell people into doing hook up for me....I'll use the old and bad knees story...see what happens....

does anyone have a diagram for installing a 9241 and a 6131 via SW44? Or do I need an SW21?

Can I connect my 9141 and 6131 via an SW44? If so, how?

pstar,

Yes you can. You need a SW-44 to combine both signals from both LNB's to get your SD and HD for both those recievers.

Just run your cable from slot 1 on the switch to the power adapter supplied, then to your 6131.
Then you can run 2 more wires to your 9141 (if it is dual tuner, I believe it is).

If you are running 2 single tuner recievers, then you can use 2 SW-21's. with one cable going to each reciever.

just change 119 and 110 to 91 and 82.

1a, 1b, 2a & 2b are Inputs.

1, 2, 3 & 4 are the Outputs.

Hey Everyone,

I am using a SW44 switch with of course 91 and 82. A few days ago, my buddy and I tried searching for the signal but could only find either 91 or 82 at seperate times, we tried skewing, elevation and azimuth to get both signals at once but it wouldn't work. Any tips of getting both at the same time? Is there an easy bird to get first and then just skew to get the other? Please help!!!

Set the Skew first.
Remove the SW44.
With 1 line connected from the Receiver to the 91 LNBF, aim and peak the signal.
Connect BOTH LNBF's to the SW44, connect the receiver to the output.
Run a "Check Switch".

Watch TV.

I currently have a singly lnb(it has two heads but only one lnb) and two low def receivers hooked up. Ih I want to replace an one of these receivers with an hd receiver what equipment do I need?

I hooked up the HD receiver in place of the low def receiver and ir receives all normal signals fine but no HD. Looking for a site to explain the technology in lay mens terms...

Cheers
