nothing else has been modified. A fourth receiver was added but in a different output. That output just got unplugged by mistake and now it doesnt want to pick up all channels or download the guide.
So after i remove the card will the system info screen come up automatically or do i need to find it within the menu? Sorry not very technical with all of this

That didnt work unfortunately. Some of the channels are coming in but the giude is still not being downloaded. Also when you change channels before the program comes up the error message for Temporarily not receiving signal is there. It seems like the receiver doesnt want to lock in to a signal permanently

Have you tried this 3100 in another location and tried another 3100 in this location.?

Well I tried the suggestion. I hooked up the 9241 at my existing location where the 9200 is. Check switch worked fine. Interestingly, the reception on both feeds was not great, about 50%, however the 9200 is getting better than 80%.

As a side check, I tried the 9200 on the new hookups where the 9241 is supposed to go. When the check switch was run, it gave me an error message stating that "there is one less signal/feed/satellite input than before - are you sure you want to save?"

Thanks for your input.

In addition to not receiving a signal on the 3100 I am now not receiving a signal on my 4100. This receiver was working last night, turned it on this morning and there is no signal. So out of my 4 receivers only 2 of them are getting a signal. No wiring has been changed around. Could this be a problem with the switch itself?

Yes it could, be and it is sounding more like the switch is the problem.

It seems like the 2 receivers that are getting a signal are on the left side of the switch (in spots 1 & 3) and the 2 not getting a signal are on the right side (spots 2 & 4). Is there anything that i can try before going out and buying a new switch or paying the money to have a tech come out and look at it?

If you have any friends, neighbors, or relatives you could try your receivers at their place. It really seams like you shorted your switch. If the receivers have no problems at another location that is probably your problem.

Bypass the switch to test the existing cabling/receivers.

Connect one line at a time to ensure an issue with one cable isn't affecting another port.

Test the output of thepower supply.

Diconnect all connections and reconnect ensuring a snug fit.

left side of the switch (in spots 1 & 3)
right side (spots 2 & 4)

On the standard SW44 all outputs are on the same side. Can you confirm switch make.

I just installed my bell expressvu dish hd pvr with the switch 44. I am getting a message that one of the connections to my switch is incorrect. I have four cables coming from the dish to the sw44 (from the two LNBF's) and two coax cables going from the switch to inside the house. One connected to the power inserter, than to the receiver and the other straight to the receiver. I followed the wiring diagram...is there something I am missing? When i run the check i get the message that connections to the switch are incorrect. any ideas?

Make sure that both LNB connections for each LNB are connected to the same input. I always put the 91 LNB into the 1A and 1B connections and the 82 LNB into the 2A and 2B connections.

and it would be best to label the cable coming from the power inserter as #1 so that you can be sure it's connected to the #1 port on the switch. if you can't tell which cable is which at the dish, just swap them on the switch and try a switch check to see if it's any better. one common problem is the center wire of the cable getting bent over and causing a short circuit. the ports on the switch have a rubber insert which makes it difficult to insert the cable correctly.

Hello, Yesterday I got a Bell Expressvu HD 9241 Reciever "Dual Tuner" hooked up and all is running good,They installed a "Powered SW44 switch" I also have a Bell 5900 PVR "single tuner" in the bedroom, I should be using 3 connections right?
I have a 4th line running in and it was connected to the SW44 switch also but I can't figure out which one it is because all four run behind a huge TV which I can't move. How can I find the cable that is not used?? I thought I would disconnect one at a time until I found the one that didn't effect the other 2 receivers, but no matter which one I disconnect 1 or both receivers don't work. Its like all 4 cables are been used

Any ideas??

Thanks,

Kev.

Port #1 on the output of the SW44 will feed towards a power Inserter, so that must be connected at all times. The norm is to use Ports #1 & 2 for the Dual Tuner HD PVR.

I would try again, with the 9241 on the Signal strength screen, MENU, 6, 1, 1 and then have it display Tuner #2. remove Port 2, you should loose signal, the 5900 should still be OK. Then repeat with the 5900. Better yet have 1 person at each TV......

There should be no logical reason why all 4 lines could feed the 3 Tuners you have.

Thinking about it a little more, it might just be that the Installer used Port 1 for JUST the Power Inserter, in which case you will need to get behind the TV to check.

Have a look in the Bell TV Installations Threads for a diagram of how it should be connected.

I Checked and he has the cable going through a power Inserter and it splits off to the #1 port at the back of the receiver then another cable is coming from behind the TV stand, to port # 2

The 3rd cable would be going to the bedroom, But the 4th one should be dead but its not. If I unhook anyone of the 4 cables coming from the satellite it stops me watching TV.

Anymore Ideas

Thanks Again

Sorry, none. It does not make sense.

You only have 3 Tuners and the SW44 has 4 outputs.

You are on the OUTPUT side of the SW44.....lol....Only thing I can think of...

Pinza, he's talking about the 4 lines between the dish and the SW44 - the inputs to the SW44. He seems to think that each input corresponds to one output.

kevkwas, that's not the case. All 4 inputs are required to operate the switch properly.

kevkwas - Check the diagram in post #3. It should help you make sense of it all.
