I have a

Yamaha 661 A/V
Panny 42px60 (set to HMDI audio to AUTO)

just got a Panny DVD-S533

HMDI out from DVD into 661
HMDI out from 661 into 42px60

everything works great except:


When I turn on the DVD player the power on the TV goes on, if I then turn the TV off the DVD player turns off.

When I want to play a music CD I'd rather NOT have my TV be on.

Does the power on the DVD make the TV go on because they are same make?

Anybody have any idea about how to turn the TV off and keep the DVD power
ON?

Having the television come on when the DVD comes on can be changed in your tv's menu.

Please Read your manual. It will explain what to change in the menu's to change to the setting you want.
