I have a Denon S-101 which uses Dolby Virtual Speaker to create 5.1 surround sound.
Recently, I used a home theatre setup DVD, (Home Theater Optimizer by Allsop) to check the sound and the phase tests made me believe that one of the speakers may be wired out of phase. The speaker pairs tested gave odd placements, (Right front and right surround sounded like Center and left surround, for instance.)
However, the speaker tone test gave me fairly accurate placements for each of the channels.
Is it possible that one of the speakers is wired out of phase? (I've never been thrilled with the sound of the Dolby Virtual Speaker on the unit--though overall I do like the sound.) Note that the system comes pre-wired, so it would have to have been wired out of phase at the factory. Or does Dolby Virtual Speaker give inaccurate channel placements?
