Over 1,000 HD DVD titles currently exist today worldwide.

Sorry, I don't think the claim on that board is accurate.

Is there any way/ website that lists ALL content presently available on the formats?

All numbers I've heard recently point to less than half that amount of titles available on HD DVD (but they were indirect sources).

According to Jodi Sally (Vice President of Marketing, Toshiba's Digital A/V Group) in this Jan. 14/08 article (http://www.globeinvestor.com/servlet/story/PRNEWS.20080114.NEM041/GIStory/), the # of titles worldwide is 800.

I guess the 450 number I've seen before is either for North America only, or maybe outdated.

Over the last 9 years I've amassed around 800 SD DVD titles so having an HD player for upconversion makes a lot of sense.

Wouldn't a BR player make more sense?

I have a PS3 (60 gig) and an HD A2. The A2 is noticeable better at upconverting.

Just my opinion based on what my eyes tell me.

Toward the bottom...

The product announcements come in a week when the top 10 high-definition disc sellers are all Blu-ray Disc releases, according to an analysis of Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales numbers by Home Media Magazine’s market research department.

Net HD DVD sales, according to Nielsen, constituted only 15% of hi-def disc sales last week. And the top HD DVD seller, The Kingdom, sold just 10% as many copies as the top Blu-ray Disc release, 3:10 to Yuma.

Yes, HD DVD fans. It really isn't all that bad. :D

And how is this not trolling? If you had bothered to read this thread you would probably have seen that your post is not relevant to what's being discussed. If you had bothered to read any other topics, you would have seen this "sensational" information quoted at least a few times.

Arthur, do not waste your time with such comments, although Mark did put a smilie at the end of the remark, Hard to tell what he really means.... Anyway thought this would interest some people.

Universal: "No Plans" to Abandon HD DVD

"Fending off continued speculation that Universal is mulling a switch from HD DVD-exclusivity, Universal Studios VP (and HD DVD Promo Group Co-Chair) Ken Graffeo says that the studio has no plans to make any changes in its high-def strategy."

I don't think anybody should be surprised by the split last week. I'm sure most HD DVD fans put their orders on hold until they had a better understanding of what was happening in the future.

That being said January is a horrible month for HD releases so I'm sure the 85% number isn't impressive either.
