Usually 1055, 1054? Sometimes they give you another one.

Annoying glitch going on...ever since I started playing with my STB and now that I figured it out every time I am on 720p on a channel it just resets itself as if I just changed channel but then goes back to that channel, happens like 6 times a minute. In a channel, then goes black and reappears. It's annoying.

Harry I, why not just set your STB to 1080i, and auto dvi? that way, your 4:3 channels will show in original aspect ratio? I noticed when the TV changes modes it tends to pause for 2 seconds, and the sound cuts out according to your setup.

Why would it come with a PVR remote? the 1055 and 1054 have PVR functions no?

It's also happening with 1080i...

It's like it keeps changing modes but stays the same mode...it's weird and annoying.

Why would it come with a PVR

I have one 8300HD PVR and two 4250HD terminals. All came with the same remote which includes PVR functions. Even the SD terminal I had for a couple of years used the same remote.

yup the atlas 1055 also known as the 5-device pvr/dvr remote.

When my rogers box is out putting 720p resolution, when I press the settings button, there are some lines that blink across the screen. Could this becaused by a bad TV or bad HDMI cable? The problem goes away when I watch a program in 1080i or when I force it to 1080i resolution. Another thing to consider, it does not happen on upconverted sd content, only when a true HD station is being brodcasted and when ever I'm in the settings or quick settings, or it used to happen in the guild too, but since quick start launched, it dont do it in guild no more.

could it be a bad HDMI cable? should I try another one? I never did it with Analog connection to the tv (component)
It also happens via component cables in 720p mode, that rules out the HDMI cable. Can anyone else who has a flatscreen and rogers digital box see if this happens with them too? thanks.

I noticed on our 4250HD that we are not getting "pass-through" of the incoming cable feed when the unit is "off" (standby?). We have a separate coax to the TV from the "cable out" on the 4250, but get nothing when the the TV is set to coax. If we bypass the 4250 altogether and connect coax directly to the TV, the SD cable comes through. Is there a setting on the 4250 that we have missed or has Rogers defeated "pass-through" for some reason? Why do we want pass-through? - we have some viewers who just want SD and single simple remote to operate. Thanks!

that can only be acomplished by using a 2-way splitter now

bj4_now As mentioned above, the passthrough no longer works, however, it's possible to programme the Rogers remote to turn the TV on/off and control the volume of the TV (master volume) with the Rogers remote.

When you have just a STB instead of a PVR, I recommend you programme the remote to only turn the TV on/off and leave the STB on (Master Power) - there is almost no difference in power consumption between on/off (which is really standby) for the STB. That way there won't be any instance where one is off and one is on. These steps are all covered in the operating manual for the remote and then one remote controls the TV and STB as appropriate for the "technophobe". Using a splitter (or even passthrough) would probably be more complex since one would need to know how to switch inputs on the TV and which input to go to if the TV is left on the HD input.

Or get a Harmony remote so that watching an HD channel will be just as easy as watching an SD analog channel since there is only one remote to use.

^^^^

How is this any different from what the Atlas remote does? Either way, the remote can turn both the terminal and TV on & off. Both will still have to send both codes to operate both devices. I wouldn't want my terminal left on, at least with the bedroom set, as it produces too much light when on. I have it configured so it only has a small dot displayed when off.

BTW, the SD channels comes through the box as well, so im not sure why you wanna pass through them to your tv's coax and switch from stb to analogue? why not just watch the sd/analog channels via the box? its easier.

IIRC, those boxes receive digital SD channels, not analog. Even the low channels, such as 2 etc. are available in digital. One thing I noticed when I first got a SD digital box was the picture was a bit better than analog. If I want to actually view an analog channel, I have to go through my VCR.

i meant it was an analog channel, not analog signal as in a duplicate of what you would receiv on your analog lineup but ya its pure digital.,

Thanks for all the feedback! So the "output" coax has been disabled by Rogers. I'll try the leave the 4250HD "on" suggestion and just have the Atlas remote device control the TV power on/off. I want to sort out the current power-on sequence of the Atlas anyway - right now the "CBL-POWER" sequence turns the box and the TV on simultaneously . . . sometimes (!?!), and if one device is on and the other is off the sequence just switches their respective on/off states - that can be painful for our "technophobe", trying to cope; with the resulting "I just want to turn on my TV!" exclamations. Thanks again for all your suggestions.

Setting up my HD 4250 with my 27" Aquo TV with Component Video. Video works great, but getting no sound. I have tried both of the RCA audio outputs from the HD 4250 to the (many) RCA stereo inputs on the Aquos, but no dice. Going through the TV menu options are limited, audio-wise, as they seem to be for audio output. In the Rogers Settings button menu, I've fiddled with the Digital Output from HDMI to Dolby Digital to Other, but still no audio.

Anything else?
