Hi.
My first posting and hoping for a bit of help with this problem that's happened with my gas fire. And hope i can be helpfull with anybody elses probs if i can help out on any other subjects...cheers.

Back to my prob with the fire.. the wife as they do was dusting the front of the brass grill .The fire was on and running ok.The little brass excess door fell down and at that the fire cut off and went out.On a tempting to relight the control knob would push in to light but when released it would cut the gas flow off where as before it would stay and you move on to your setting ..high or low. As it happened to be caused with the small door panel falling on the arth. Though it might of moved a bit of carbon over a jet in the pilot so i clean all out with the suction of a vacuum hover. It is maybe 3 years old and had no probs with if before. I don`t no if it as a limit switch cut off. or the thermocoupling as give up ..Any ideas would be welcome cheers.

Turn the gas vavle to off and wait 5 minutes, some of these vavles have a built in safetly that will prevent reliting right after the pilot dropped out.

While your waiting make sure all your wires are secure and tightly connected

While pushing in the gas vavle in the pilot position, light the pilot and hold the button in for 30seconds to give the thermocouple or powerpile enough time to generate voltage to hold in the pilot vavle, release and it should stay on.

You may simply require a new thermocouple or powerpile, ITs unlikely a limit issue as it shut off when your wife hit the door, its likely a bad wiring connections.

Hi TKG.
In which way are you saying turn the gas valve off. By the mains or the screw in on the regulater valve. As i will try it and check the conections cheers.

The Gas valve where the wiring attaches to has a knob that says on.off and pilot, turn it to off position for a few minutes to ensure it resets. Some fireplace gas valves have mechanical stops in them that prevent you from reliting before going to off position first
