Sorry if this should be in a different forum, but the Boxing Day thread said no discussion.

FutureShop has this model on Boxing Day, but like many doorcrasher items in the flyer, there is no info on the web. Based on the savings off the regular price, it can't be a re-badged LX177.

I'm deciding between this and the Panasonic TH-42PE7 (another re-badged model) and I'm able to find lots of info on the Panny.

I think its a rebranded Toshiba 42hl167 with the model number changed so it's a "Futureshop exclusive". They do this so they don't have to match prices with other retailers for the same item.

So does anyone have any thoughts / opinions on this TV? The price is quite good.

Okay I found some more information on the Toshiba Regza 42HL167 from the December 2007 issue of Consumer Reports:

Score 71 out of 100 (The highest score in the 40 to 42 Inch category was 77 out of 100 for the 40 Inch Samsung LN-T4053H)

This set tied for 7th out of 17 sets in the 40 to 42 Inch category.

The only negative for this set as per CR was the Viewing Angle which was only rated as "Fair" - which is the second lowest rating out of the 5 ratings in CR.

The MSRP for this set is $1600 US - $2300 Canadian as per CR.
