Recently bought Sharp 46d92. One question: when tv switches formats from sd to hd I get a green vertical line from top to bottom and snow on the lower half of the screen while switch is taking place. Is this normal? I also have a 32inch Westinghouse which show a totally blank screen in the switchover which is why I think there may be a problem with the Sharp.

I get the momentary green vertical line when changing from SD to HD to SD channels on my 92U....but no snow. Is this an HDMI input?

yes, hdmi through Videotron SA8300PVR.
TVs behave differently when changing formats, however it's completely normal to have any/all of the following on the screen.
- a "mad scramble" of lines
- a temporary grey screen
- a temporary black screeen
- just about anything that goes away in about 2-5 seconds.
- the amount of time depends on the TV - some TVs take as little as 2 seconds while some can take as long as 7-8 seconds..
If it takes more time than 10 seconds or the "static/line" remains on screen, then it's not normal.
TVs may also behave differently when connected via Component video vs HDMI.
