I noticed that with the new Wink upgrade, your channel changing will sometimes "stick", i.e. gets locked up for a few seconds, and then after the pause everything you've done with the remote during that lock up will quickly get done. For example, I'm channel surfing, then I hit channel 33 (CNN) stay on it for a couple of seconds, then I try to go to the next channel, and I'm locked up. It appears to be trying to load something from Wink, but never does, and then let's you continue.

Pretty annoying to say the least,

I noticed that too, but didn't make the connection to Wink. You're probably right though, and if that's the case, it's worth complaining about!

It was sure nice while they got rid of Wink completely for the first few months of having a 3250HD (and for the couple of weeks for other boxes). Of course, now they have to go and bring it back. Getting one piece of software working (SARA) is hard enough, how likely do you think they're going to get it right mixing two pieces of software (from different vendors for that matter)

Ahh....I can't stand Wink. It's such rubbish, and I don't think many people actually use it. I have no problems with Interactive TV applications, as long as they don't hinder my ability to watch TV in ANY WAY.

Today I've had some issues with my 3250HD box. While OFF, it seems to be re-setting itself. I'll be at my computer and all of a sudden, I'll hear a "click" and turn around to see that the clock is off and then the box proceeds to reboot itself.

Thsi has happened at least 4 times today. All the plugs and outlets seem to be successfully plugged in correctly. Anyone have any clue as to what is happening and/or what I can do to fix it?

Thanks
George

EDIT: This appears to be a false positive - it was just a typical channel change lockup for a minute or so (the original problem) , not a permanent lockup like I originally suspected.

After the Wink upgrade, I'm now having this very serious problem:

After a timer wake up: anytime after that (even hours later) if I change the channel, it locks up every time. Sometimes allows me to enter one or two digits of the channel number, other times it makes it all the way to me hitting enter, and then shows questions marks and locks up.

I have to reboot the box by unplugging it. This happens pretty much daily.

I haven't narrowed this down to a timer wake up problem, but will do some more tests tomorrow.

I've just noticed that too. It's very annoying. I think it's time to call Rogers to see if any sort of disabling can be done, as previously, the 3250HD did not have the application loaded in the box at all.

Since this topic concerns the SD 3250 HD, I have a question about the controllers. I would like to use the old three button rather than the new four button controller. The three button that I have works with all functions except for volume. I need it set to "variable" rather than "fixed". Can someone please be kind enough to do the same test and let me know if it's a matter of ONLY my setup or if this is a common issue.
Many thanks,

AKS

I just exchanged my old (trustworthy) 3100HD for a brand spanking new 3250HD. Installed and configured it yesterday - thanks for all the info about the setup wizard. I just have one strange problem. After the unit has been turned off for more than a few minutes , it starts to count up from h.0000 to h.99999 , over and over again. I've called Rogers, they have opened a ticket with the network guys who will get back to me .
I can press the power buttom and then get - - - - , it then gives me the TOD. When I turn on my TV I get the SA Blue screen , then the IPG gets loaded and channel 1 comes up ... it seems to be rebooting all the time !

It's annoying but I can work through it for the moment ! This never happened with my 3100HD .. Any ideas why it might be doing this ?

Thanks

Peter

That's what mine did when a firmware upgrade was in progress. It's very possible that the box didn't have the latest firmware. I would suggest leaving the box off and let it cycle through. DO NOT turn it back on until the current time reappears.

I got home yesterday and to my surprise the 3250HD was not spinning aimlessly. It showed the time ! I guess either it fixed itself (very questionable) or the Rogers netwoeks guys did their magic . Either way, it's now working.

It was probably a firmware upgrade in progress as dcomp11 said. Your box was probably sitting in a Rogers Video store closet when the latest round of firmware upgrades was happening.

I'm getting sick and tired of this channel changing lockup since the Wink upgrade. Most of the time it eventually changes the channel (like 5 or 10 seconds later), but the odd time it still freezes the box.

Same here. Time to call Rogers I guess. I was going to give Wink a shot, providing it didn't interfere with my TV watching abilities (excluding the i that pops up for Wink)

I don't seem to have the delay issue anymore. Was only for a very short time.

Funny thing is, it happens on channels that don't even have Wink, e.g. I'm on channel 3, and I change to another channel, e.g. 047 (actually my TiVo sends IR to the box), then I see that the first number 0 holds (sticks), then I get 3 question marks (blinking) like there's no channel there, then a couple seconds later the next two numbers 47 are sent to the box and channel is changed successfully. It would have failed obviously if I was changing to a channel in the 100's.

I just got back from travel and also found that sometimes (usually right after I turn on the STB) it's slow to change. I put in 0-0-3 quickly and the change to channel 3 takes a few seconds.

If I'm impatient, I type in another number because I thought I "mis-pressed", but then the STB "catches up".

I'm pretty busy right now and would appreciate if someone calls and/or e-mails Rogers regarding this issue.

Since you're using it with a TIVO I presume that whatever IR code setting from teh TIVO that you're using is the 'slow' choice for that number? If not, you might have better luck by selecting the medium or slow IR code sending speed on the TIVO.

Thanks lajohn27, just before I read your response, I happened to do exactly that. I had it previously set to FAST, and now I have it set to medium.

Funny thing is, before these upgrades, I never had a problem with channel changing at the FAST setting. Now, problems I described happen frequently. I'll leave it at medium for the next week or so and keep my fingers crossed. Thanks again,

I got an update from someone at Rogers - they are working with Scientific Atlanta to resolve the sticky channel change problem.
