After resetting my 505, sometimes it will cycle a few times, and then it a channel will show and everything works. After a couple of minutes we can watch whatever channel we're on for as long as we like, but after a couple of minutes we can't change channels, see the guide, or do anything else. The clock or channel display is stuck.

I am at version E0. Is that the latest version for a 505? Or is it E4?

Any ideas? I called Starchoice but I don't want to wait over an hour.

I'm starting to think I may need to ditch Starchoice. In the last couple of years I've had 3 or 4 receivers with intermittent dropouts (satellite light goes red here and there) and each time I have to pay shipping for problems with these crap receivers. I am tired of waiting for customer service Not happy.

I think I'd start to examine local factors like installation grounding, signal strength and A.C. power.

If your that lucky, then start buying lottery tickets.

After waiting about 90 minutes to talk to someone at Starchoice, the rep had me do a factory reset.

It seems to have cleared up the issue.

He said that they are seeing a lot of these issues with people who leave the receiver on overnight. I do often leave it on overnight because I have a TiVO that expects it to be on when recording shows.

I am going to try to turn it off overnight when I can, but I really hope this issue is resolved.

I've been with Starchoice for 4 or 5 years now. The old 205 and 305 receivers were not as fancy, but they were stable. Over the last 4 or 5 years things seem to be getting flakier and flakier. Oh well.

Blaming problems on the fact that the receiver if left on is complete BS!

Yeah, I thought it was a lame excuse too.

Their USED to be a problem if left on PPV or MUSIC channels I recall overnight.
I have no idea if it's still there though.

Happening again. I guess it's time for another hour long wait.
