Fine with me as long as they work on the picture quality and consider offering the games in HD.

all sens games will be on center ice

when the sens play the leafs those games won't be on center ice they will be on CBC, TSN, Sportsnet Ontario or LeafsTv.

So you might have to sub to Leaf Tv for the odd OTT vs TOR telecast.

RDS carries a number of Sens games, maybe they will be in HD.

The Senators have released their TV schedule on their website:

http://senators.nhl.com/team/app/?service=page&page=NewsPage&articleid=336152

The TV schedule for RDS has also been posted on nhl.com:

http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app?service=page&page=Schedule&network=RDS&season=20072008

A few comments...

- 73 of 82 games on TV, 70 of which will be available on conventional or specialty channels.

- Detailed breakdown is as follows: 10 CBC national, 10 CBC regional, 6 TSN, 20 Rogers Sportsnet Exclusive, 5 A-Channel Ottawa Exclusive, 15 A-Channel / Rogers Sportsnet Simulcasts, 4 RDS / PPV simulcasts, 3 PPV exclusives.

- RDS is planning to carry 25 Sens games in total en français.

- I expect we'll get 21 Sens games in HD: 10 national CBC games, 6 TSN games, 5 games vs. the Habs on RDS. We may get a few others from Sens PPV, RDS or Rogers Sportsnet.

- shocker - of the 7 Sens PPV games, 4 of those games are scheduled to be carried in French on RDS. For those games, PPV purchase numbers will tumble - many folks in Ottawa have a least a passing understanding of French, you can always turn down the TV volume and turn up the radio, and RDS is on analogue cable in Ottawa

With the exception of the RDS HD part (which is speculation for several reasons) the TV schedule and the HD part is not that much different from last year.

If a Sens game is on PPV and RDS, the RDS game will probably be black out. If a game is on the AChannel and Sportsnet East, the game will be blacked out on SN-E in Ottawa....a shame because the PQ of the AChannel games is way below par.

It will be interesting at mid season to calculate the percentage of Sens games available in HD....I bet we are one of the worst teams in the NHL....especially considering how well we did last year in the playoffs.

Don't forget that the afternoon national CBC games (4 by my count) are likely to be in WS rather than HD.

Having given up on the Leafs, I'm switching allegiance to the Sens. Will Sens games (when not playing the Leafs) be blacked out in the Toronto area?

Rideauman -

Welcome to the fold. I grew up in Toronto, so it was a difficult transition, but well worthwhile.

Unfortunately, the only Sens games you'll get are the "national" games listed above that air on CBC and TSN. The CBC-Regional games will also be available online, via satellite, and perhaps if you have digital cable. And, as you noted, you'll also get a couple extra games when the Sens play the Leafs.

All Sens games on Rogers Sportsnet and A-Channel will be blacked out in Toronto. Your only other option is to subscribe to NHL Center Ice.

The Sens games on A-Channel are not blacked out in Toronto on Star Choice, they shouldn't be on Rogers either.

I expect StarChoice will start to black out Sens games on A-Channel to subscribers outside of eastern Ontario, as a side effect of their deal with the NHL to start carrying NHL Centre Ice.

As for Rogers, I don't believe they carry A-Channel Ottawa/Pembroke outside of the immediate Ottawa region.

...looks like RDS has adjusted their schedule, according to nhl.com. They're no longer scheduled to carry any games that are on PPV.

Also, their sister-station RIS has added a great Sens-Sabres matchup the last Wednesday in December that's not otherwise going to be televised.

For the Sens fan, adding RDS and RIS is still something to consider - one extra Sens game, and likely five or more games in HD.
