The game against the Leafs on the 24th is also televised but not in Ottawa.

Umm...I read a story in some London paper, and they were complaining that Rogers Television couldn't show the game in London because it was in the Leafs region, Im guessing that they just put SNET-O in because Rogers isn't a TV network in their database...

Sportsnet's TV Sked only has 2 preseason NHL games, both Canucks

Yes, Sportsnet regional programming can be blacked out in areas within a region.

According to the schedule on the Sens website, FOUR preseason games will be televised on Rogers Sportsnet!

In Ottawa these games will be shown on the local Rogers cable channel 22....not Sportsnet.

Thats great news Bytown.....do you have a reference?

So I found this...
http://www.marketwire.com/mw/release.do?id=771128
...it really says they are working on it....its not a done deal for all the games. Looks like they are piggybacking on existing HD broadcasts so there will be no "production work" to be done by them.

Its a move in the right direction but their overall HD effort is still poor....for a top NHL team...

So will we just be paying money to watch the FSN Pittsburgh crew broadcast the game in HD then or will they somehow just use the video feed from the US network?

The sens use the a-channel crew to do the ppvs.

I expect StarChoice will start to black out Sens games on A-Channel to subscribers outside of eastern Ontario, as a side effect of their deal with the NHL to start carrying NHL Centre Ice.

As for Rogers, I don't believe they carry A-Channel Ottawa/Pembroke outside of the immediate Ottawa region.
A-Channel was blacked out last night in Toronto on Star Choice during the Senators game. There was a message to order Centre Ice to view the game.

I know on BEV, A-Channel Sens games are correctly shown in PEI (Sens area also includes Quebec and Atlantic Canada, as does Habs, although no regional habs coverage anymore). I would hope SC would show A-Channel games in Quebec/Atlantic as well. Can anyone confirm?

Does anyone know or have any suspicions of whether A-Channel will renew their broadcast agreement with the Sens, now that A-Channel is owned by CTV? How many more years in the current agreement?

Does anyone else notice that the Senators seem to take a break from Sportsnet for baseball Playoffs, how is Ok that the other teams get their games shown. We know Sportsnet has digital options, couldn't they show us these games that are A-Channel Exclusive in October? Good to see them add the Thrashers/Sens game tongiht though, tonight would've been Game 7 of World Series.

Yeah that is a bold plan. I hope it's true though.

The Sens played a whole lot of games at the beginning of the season then very few for the last 2 weeks. I didn't think there was a connection to the World Series but you never know. Tonights game is on A channel in Ottawa (terrible PQ) and on SNE blacked out in Ottawa. This is business as usual.

Yeah, If you check the Sportsnet "Franchiase Schedule" it lists 5 or so A-Channel games that couldn't be simulcasted...A couple were due to baseball, and a couple that were on Sundays that would interfere with NFL. I don't have a link, but just go to the Sportsnet TV schedule, pull down for Senators and click on the download schedule button, if you so wish.

I agree though, the PQ is bad....on an SDTV!! :P

Its not just the Sens. The Flames had only one of their first eight games on Sportsnet, Canucks four of eight and the Oilers are in the middle of a four games out of thirteen stretch on Sportsnet to start the season. Last year it was Flames one of nine, and Oilers three of eleven to start the year.
