: Michael Vick has found Jesus and is sorry

I think its amplified because of who he is not because a dog is a pet. If he did not do this we would still speak about him because of his football.
Public opinion or ever laws, do not stop users from destroying whatever they want. They do what they want and say were sorry after. Humans have their conscience.

It seems we are taught to respect some animals more than others; some are worthy of protection, others are fair game for mass slaughter and consumption.
It's easy to tell which catagory each fits into. Macrofauna which is cute & cuddly, eg pandas or polar bears = most protected. Microfauna & flora = little protection.
We've been breeding dogs for thousands of years, and much of this effort was to make them more attractive, so it's not suprising that we consider dogs eligible for the highest level of protection.
i hate tv

Cute or not, he was breaking the law
Is he being made an example of? Yes
Don't piss off animal rights activists, or else
To be honest, I don't feel sorry for him
What he was doing (raising dogs to fight, and killing the "weak" dogs) was disgusting
Hopefully others out there that participate in dog fighting will take this to heart, and give up this cruel "sport"
I doubt anyone feels sorry for Michael right now!

I think hes only sorry to get his many multi million dollar contract back. he did the dog fights for years. Hes sorry he got caught. Until I see him spending his own money to help out animals or become an animal activist I think the only reason hes sorry is to get his money.
But ill leave the judging to Jesus

He should be happy, I bet half theyguys in there will be named Jesus and you know they will be happy to see him.

I heard on the news this morning that Whoopi Goldberg on The View defended his actions saying that this was a way of life in the "south".
2007-09-05, 11:56 AM
Hmmm...I'm guessing there are things that happen in the South that Whoopi would not be so quick to defend with her glib "way of life" comment.
eljay, what a wonderful response to the idiotic remark made by Whoopi. I only wish that the other members of the View had had the smarts to issue a similar retort.

Vick sentenced to 23 months in jail
RICHMOND, Va. -- Michael Vick was sentenced to 23 months in prison Monday for his role in a dogfighting conspiracy that involved gambling and killing pit bulls.
The suspended Atlanta Falcons quarterback could have been sentenced up to five years by District Judge Henry E. Hudson. Vick was dressed in a black-and-white striped prison suit and apologized to the court and his family.
Ouch...next comes the State charges in April

Oh, well, I haven't seen this topic before, and thought it meant that Michael Vick has found Jesus and is sorry because of that :)

Hey, maybe they'll do a remake of "The Longest Yard":p

I thought he had made a turn for the best but from what I've heard he got one month off the maximum because he had failed a court ordered drug test since being charged. What an idiot. He gets high and receives an extra 5 months behind bars.
