Would it be cheaper to add channels individually? How much would it cost me to add tsn hd, raptors hd and gol tv? is there a package for that? I already have tsn and raptors tv but would like to add hd.

...and your cable/satellite provider (Rogers) was unable to answer your questions?

Have you ever tried to get a straight, correct, simple answer out of Rogers? If you don't break down in tears of frustration while trying to get the question answered, it will still likely be wrong! He's much more likely to get a good answer from the friendly folk here!

Nfitz, I agree but any answer given by friendly folk here will eventually be wrong as Rogers constantly changes things.

Sipowitz,
o It's very difficult to add channels individually due to the convoluted CRTC linkage rules.

o When you buy or rent an HD box, you get some HD channels for free including Raptors-HD but TSN-HD is now part of their HD Speciality Channel Package ($7.95). See "FAQ - Rogers HD Offering (http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=17706)".

o I can't help you with gol tv.

We have the VIP Digital Ultimate with Movies package (aka Couch potato party pack) and it includes Gol TV.

We also subscribe to the HD Speciality Channel Package.

A couple of years ago we had looked at doing "a la carte" channel selections, but it turned out to be cheaper to subscribe to everything than it was to pick and choose the channels we actually wanted. It may be different now.

The various packages are often the best value:

Some of the HD channels are on "free preview" and don't require a subscription, while others do. This is explained in the link in post 4.

The premium tier HD channels require you to subscribe to the equivalent SD channels first - TSN, Discovery, Showcase (or at least the Digital VIP package). I believe this means the "ultimate" package. The price of this HD tier will be $7.95/mo as of March 1 since the addition of several new channels. Some of the channels may be on free preview.

I don't subscribe and don't get Raptors-SD (Ch413), but I do get Raptors-HD (Ch506). I don't know if I get Raptors-HD because it's on "free preview" or a Rogers screw-up. I recently loss Speed channel because it got moved to another package, but I don't care since it's not in HD. My Rogers subscription packages are: Extended Basic + TMN + MPIX + Superstation + HDTV Specialty Package. I think if you get TSN-SD with your package, then you should get TSN-HD with the HDTV Specialty Package (+$7.95). I would call Rogers. Good luck in figuring out what you have to order to get Raptors-HD. Again, I would call Rogers.
