I'm moving in a few weeks, and after calling to move my services to my new house (I have two receivers, one of them HD), I was told that they cover the installation, except I need to supply the multiswitch (SW 44) for my installation.

Is there a better place to buy the multiswitch (its $150 on the Bell website), that will be cheaper and still be compatible? I believe I got my first multiswitch from Radioshack and it was fine, any other recommendations? And which switches to avoid if I buy from Ebay?

We install the first receiver free of charge and there is a 50$ charge to get the second one installed...

You need to bring the SW44 otherwise they will charge you another one if they have to install one, but Nimiq1 says that it's included in the free move...

I believe they are also available at retail Home Hardware stores. IIRC, they are under $100 there. Just another lesson to Bell subs planning to move. IF you can bring it with you, don't do Bell any favors, and bring it ALL with you.

And if it's one of my Tech's he should REFUSE to install it.

A Quad LNBF is NOT approved by Express Vu for installation, therefore there would be no warranty on any part of the install and I would discipline any of my guys that install one. They would only do it once, after that they are job hunting.

According to all the information we get ( We are National Installers) a Move customer, gets "All the switch's, LNBF's that they had at the previous location, provided Free Of Charge". They also get the "Primary Receiver" hooked up for free.

Now if one receiver is a 9200, then that and a back feed to a second TV will be included free.

The second receiver would cost you $50 for installation, as mentioned by "Agent".

Your post says, 2 receivers, 1 an HD, if you have a 6100 as the HD, then you do not need an SW44 you require an SW21, or more accurately, 2 x SW21's to feed both receivers, again, as per our directives this would indeed be FREE, only the second receiver would be billable to you.

I have a 9200 and a 3100, so they did say I would have to pay $50 for the additional run. Just sucks having to get another SW44 switch.

You can also take the one you are currently using to install it a the new house...or cross your fingers that it would be one of Nimiq 1's guys who will show up and put it at no extra charge

Yeah, unfortunately, I sold it with the house, and I'm sure the new people don't want to see the wires dangling from the satellite down to where the switch should be :)

I'm kind of suprised its not included in my move because I did get the switch in my package when I bought the 9200 + the dual LNB kit.

I just saw a sw44 on ebay described as brand new, never opened. Looks exactly as mine. There is a "buy it now" price of $49 and $15 for shipping. It is located in Canada.

There are other cheaper ones there you can order from suppliers in the U.S.

Thanks Brooker! I just snapped one up now from that seller. I didn't notice that auction earlier today.

More rigid policies from an arrogant company? I guess what customers require don't count in "EV's country". Your bosses better keep paying those political bribes to protect their market share.

Explain how a Customer "Requires" a Quad LNBF.?

A Customer requires Signal from both Birds to a max of 4 receivers, we can and do achieve that every without using any Quad LNBF's.

Go ahead, install your Quads, your Dish Pro, Dish Pro Plus, and if, just if they decide to remove support from these products in the next round of firmware, YOU will be left digging through your garage for the Legacy stuff that was not needed.

Don't tell me it will never happen because never is a very long time.

It has happened in the past, and could happen again.

I hate to say it Nimiq, but with this last comment you are really starting to mimic the Bell "high and mighty" attitude. I really hate it when Bell takes the position of "well, WE don't think you need it, so WE don't support it", never mind what the customers wants.

What happens if you have more than 4 receivers? Or 3 dual tuner receivers (such as I have)? Bell is unequipped to handle these types of installs without adding more dishes and an ugly mess of wires.

I still don't understand why Bev hasn't adopted DPP technology from Dishnet. I only need 2 wires into my house to power up to 4 dual tuner receivers. Very clean and easy to manage.

If Bev ever decides to intentionally remove support for DPP equipment, that will be the final straw for me (and many others I'm sure). With the excellent satellite swap deal being offered by Shaw it won't take much for me to switch.

Oh, and I wanted to add, when I did my move last May, my installer was willing and did install my DPP equipment without a problem. He wasn't really familiar with the technology but was willing to do what I asked. Hopefully he didn't get fired!!

Yah, DPP installs are pretty slick. 2 lines in from Dish and 1 line to 9200 location with Seperator behind unit.

The day they switch to DPP will be sweet...expecially for us installers.

Cheers

I am glad you found an Installer willing to install your own equipment. WE as a Company have been warned about doing it, they have told us in no uncertain words that we cannot do it, therefore we have to enforce that for the stability of the Company.

I fully understand DP, DPP etc and wish I could get a commitment out of them for continuing to support it. I know that V150 of the 9200 software was going to have it removed, until they realized that they, Express Vu, are running DPP into there buildings in Scarborough.....lol. So in all fairness until they climb on the roof to change back to Legacy I think we are all safe.

As for no options other than a second Dish for multiple receivers, you are incorrect.

We carry 8 way Switch's in stock for up to 8 Tuners where one Bird is involved and I now insist on using 2 SW24's and 2 x SW44's for upto 8 Tuners receiving both birds. This second option is not they way Express Vu want it, but it is the most stable and it is also the system we use for the VIP's within Express Vu, so if it is good enough for the VIP, it's good enough for everyone.

Sorry if I came across as High and Mighty, just that we got slapped last Friday for a Tech installing DPP, so Express Vu have suspended him for 7 days. No Appeal, nothing. He did a Customer a favor, by using DPP, great Customer Service if you ask me but that is NOT what Express Vu are about.

We as a Company really need to throw away all notions of Customer Service and create a new mantra, "Customer Dis-service". If we did everything by Express Vu's book, the Techs would do 1 call per Day and there would be hundreds of Customers complaining. We just cannot win.
