: Telus is not a "national" provider

This may be old news to many, however, I switched to Telus Mobility in March. Their "deal" for bringing your number over was much better than Rogers. ( I was with Bell ).

Fast forward to summer holidays. I'm in Manitoba. My wife is using her Bell Blackberry everywhere we go. As soon as I get out of Winnipeg, my data is not available.

TELUS DOES NOT HAVE DATA COVERAGE OUTSIDE WINNIPEG!! Unbelievable. They tout themselves as a national carrier, yet, just minutes outside Winnipeg, I'm s.o.l. I can use my phone, but no data for you!!

I wouldn't be so upset, however my wife's Bell 7250 was in 1XEV coverage almost everwhere we went (lake north of Brandon, town southeast of Winnipeg).

When I phoned Telus, of course they said it was my fault for not looking at their coverage map.

It's not the end of the world for me, but had I known this, I wouldn't have switched from Bell.

Be aware, if you are considering Telus for anything outside BC, Alberta or Sask. (as soon as we crossed the border into Sask, my data was working again - so obviously they have a roaming agreement with sasktel but not mts)

The fact they are a national provider. When they say provider not one provider means data they mean airtime.Meaning you can make calls anywhere in canada.Provider really should not be aloowed to say there national. My dad is with bell he works up in inuvik 2 weeks a month. He went to get a phone and bell said yes we have service in all of the nwt and yukon.Well he had to make some side trips and got no service at all.
