I bought the new Samsung HP-T4264 plasma and started having issues about 45 days later. Thats 15 days too late for an no questions exchange at FShop. I had a stuck green pixel about 3 inches from the top and 14.5 inches from the left. This lasted 3 weeks during which time I was appealing and bumping up my case with Samsung to get an exchange. About the time they finally agreed with me the stuck pixel got "unstuck" and the exchange is on hold for 30 days.

In the meantime, only while viewing a pure HD signal like HDNET on Rogers Cable, I'm noticing pixels ocassionally sticking and then later unsticking. Its never the same ones. Sometimes only one pixel then sometimes three or four. It never happens during DVD play or viewing other lower quality HD signals altough I can't be sure because I dont spend a lot of time viewing other channels.

Is this normal for plasma technology? Is this something to expect during a "breakin" period and it will stop eventually? Or is this definitely a defective display that should be exchanged ASAP?

I'd appreciate some knowledgable opinions before my 30 day extension to exchange runs out.

IMO it's defective... swap it out.

I had a dead pixel on my Panasonic Plasma (flashed green nearly all the time). Panasonic swapped the tv for me. No problems since. :)

I agree, it sounds defective.

As an FYI, I have some dead sub-pixels on my plasma and the number (3) fell below the exchange threshold from my manufacturer.

Worth noting is that there are actually different thresholds for replacement for stuck ON vs. stuck OFF pixels. The number for ON is lower than for OFF because you notice them so much more. Had my 3 sub-pixels been stuck ON I would have received a replacement.

Plasmas pulse light multiple times per frame meaning that your eye should never be able to see this type of behaviour.

Check out the same model on the showroom floor. If you don't see the same problem then my advice is to push to have the unit replaced. If you see the same problem on the showroom floor then I would consider switching models and/or brands.

I'm assuming that stuck on= constant colour, stuck off = no colour

If this is the case then the initial problem was a stuck on (green) which cleared itself and now I get several random stuck off pixels.

Thanks for the quick and concise replies.

Correct.

After considering everything said here I contacted Samsung to go ahead with the exchange. Took some more arm twisting to get them to agree to a method that would simplify the process for me. They will ship a new set to a service centre. They will contact me when it arrives to arrange for a delivery and swap date. Should happen next week.

I appreciate your replies and advice.
