: Canada to lose TBS?
magnet 2007-10-02, 01:34 PM The Office (reruns) are on TBS only.
http://www.tbs.com/schedule/
Peachtree Schedule is here:
http://www.peachtreetv.com/schedule/index/
talisamara 2007-10-02, 01:43 PM I realize that. On Rogers, the TBS sched has been replaced by Peachtree sched. I want to know if Rogers has put TBS (and its sched) somewhere else.
As it stands now, The Office, (which is only on TBS), does not show up tonight at 10pm as it should if TBS was still around.
darrylr 2007-10-02, 01:45 PM Isn't The Office on Global?
magnet 2007-10-02, 01:52 PM New (first run) episodes of The Office are on NBC/ Global.
TBS (no longer available in Canada) has reruns of The Office.
SMCKINNON24 2007-10-02, 10:39 PM WTBS - SUPERSTATION was rebranded to PeachTree TV.
TBS National Feed ( Atlanta ) is not allowed in Canada yet.
Sorry but we are stuck with PeachTree Tv. But I like it so far
cablewithaview 2007-10-03, 01:05 AM Actually TBS is the "Superstation", WTBS (now WPCH) is a local "broadcast" station.
I'm kind of dissappointed with Peachtree, I felt this would have given Time Warner a chance to bring back some shows that came off of Turner South before the sell to Fox Sports. Maybe after the first of the year they will define the channel a little better then what they have done so far. I think for some, you would enjoy some of the Southern living and cooking shows that was once on Turner South or at least the snow birds.
classicsat 2007-10-03, 10:05 AM By the CRTCs definition, I suppose, the former WTBS was, and still is considered a Superstation, ans was approved as such for Canadian carriage. TBS, the national one, is a US variety cable channel (at least I considere it that).
Tuttle 2007-10-03, 08:00 PM The best thing to do is contact your cable provider letting them know that you would like to have TBS. If enough customers request this, companies will make an application to CRTC to bring TBS to Canada.
bob0082 2007-10-03, 10:27 PM Went to watch baseball playoffs today, I didn't realize we still receive the OTA feed (channel 17 Atlanta) I was under the impression for the last several years , we had TBS. I guess Fox will carry some of the playoff games?
oilblue 2007-10-04, 06:30 PM Yeah, the OTA station call letters were WTBS...which lead many of us to assume it was TBS. I had no idea there was a difference.
TBS is doing the Divisional Series for the first time. Fox will then broadcast the League Championship Series, and the World Series. Sportsnet is showing all the games.
note: Peachtree will still have Braves games next season (I think the number if 45). Meanwhile, TBS will switch away from Braves exclusively to do Sunday afternoon games (about 30 during the season).

If enough customers request this, companies will make an application to CRTC to bring TBS to Canada.Though because TBS is not a terrestrial station, won't it be subject to blackouts in Canada if it airs material for which it has not purchased Canadian broadcast rights, unlike WPCH?
mike10 2007-10-05, 01:36 AM the national TBS feed used to be in Canada but a couple of years ago everybody changed to WTBS
I_Want_My_HDTV 2007-10-05, 02:55 AM Another interesting aspect of the whole thing is whether or not TBS has Canadian rights to its movies and other programming?
I don't think this applies to OTA stations. Specialty stations are subject to blackouts due to copyright but OTA stations are only subject to simsub rules. Peachtree (WTBS) has no restrictions due to copyrights unless it broadcasts the identical program at the same time as a Canadian station (where a Canadian station could request a simsub.) OTOH, TBS "superstation" would be subject to blackouts for any program that was broadcast by a Canadian station at any time. Canadian BDUs may have done us a favour by switching to WTBS (Peachtree). Otherwise, numerous programs on TBS may have been blacked out.
cablewithaview 2007-10-05, 08:09 AM I want my HDTV, Peachtree call letters are actually WPCH.
shiremaid 2007-10-05, 11:31 AM This sucks! According to TBS.com, their station will only be available to dish owners, comcast and Direct TV. Cogeco cable has told me that TBS (Turner Broadcasting Network) did not even inform them of the buyout by Peachtree TV! As such, since they haven't even made the major cable company of Canada aware of the changes, then TBS probably has no intention of starting another contract with them.
THANKS ALOT TBS! SHAME YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO TREAT YOUR LOYAL CANADIAN VIEWERS! What the heck kind of name is "Peachtree" anyway?
Bytown 2007-10-05, 07:12 PM There was no buy out.It is very siple its just a name change thats all.We have not had the national tbs feed for a few years.I really like the name peachtree.
well, peachtree seems to be a pure namchange, no major programming changes. i wish they'd get rid of house of payne though, what a crap show. good episodes of family guy though.
mike10 2007-10-05, 11:46 PM that house of payne show was given a 100 episode order so it will be around for a few more years
Musashii 2007-10-06, 12:08 AM that house of payne show was given a 100 episode order so it will be around for a few more years
Really, When is House of Payne on Peachtree TV? We've had Peachtree for about a week now, and The Bill Engval Show, House Of Payne, etc... are nowhere to be seen. I'v mainly seen the exact same schedule everyday with movies airing nightly.
Also there is no Saved By The Bell anymore which really sucks.
mtlnorm 2007-10-06, 01:48 AM my boys is gone i guess as well..
