Just flipped on what was TBS this morning, I am seeing Headline News (which starts at 6amET) so that means we are still getting the old wtbs now wpch feed.

I am sure the call centres at cable companies will be busy. I really hope that someone applies to have national TBS come to Canada.

My guess is that PeachTree will get thrown off the Canadian cable companies. The bulk of the shows are available on Canadian channels now. So, other than the movies in the evening and weekends, there's no reason to keep it. I'm sure the big media giants will be calling up the CRTC shortly.

Peachtree would not be on the air if they did not get the ok.There whowing the exzact same shows as tbs showed and they were on the air for years. Then you have the mlb peachtree is the only channel that has rights to the first round and most of the second round. This is not a new channel just a new name.

The national TBS channel has the rights in the U.S. for MLB early round playoffs. This channel is also available in hd. The local channel will not be showing baseball playoffs.

The local Peachtree channel will show some Braves games, which will not be carried by the national channel. Starting in 2008 the national TBS channel will show baseball games (usually non Braves games) on Sunday afternoons, just like Fox does now on Saturdays.

I'm hoping we will eventually get the national HD TBS channel in Canada, for the baseball coverage.

This is the response from CRTC .....

Thank you for taking the time to contact the CRTC.

It is our understanding that only the call sign of WTBS, Atlanta is changing. However, we are in the process of confirming that and other matters with representatives of Turner Broadcasting.

If I understand this correctly, the national TBS channel and WTBS generally had the same programming. Confusing the two wasn't a big deal. Plus, TBS wasn't available to local providers in Georgia (they got WTBS like us). Both of those aspects are changing. Georgia residents will have access to TBS, while WTBS and TBS are clearly diverging on baseball content (WTBS/Peachland will continue to show Braves; TBS will switch to select MLB games on Sundays rather than "Braves only").

Seems to me they're simply doing a name change to avoid confusion. Peachtree and TBS are certainly easier to distinguish than TBS and WTBS.

The changeover will be the confusing part. We're "losing" TBS only in the sense that WTBS is changing call letters/station name. What was WTBS remains, so what was TBS in Canada, remains...under the Peachland banner.

That said, I wouldn't mind getting TBS in addition to Peachland.

Well here in Burlington, Ontario on Cogeco the switch has been made from TBS Superstation to Peachtree TV this morning. Its bascially all the same programing, just all mixed up, and different movies and also no post-season baseball.

Shaw has changed WTBS in the "Channels in My Area" on the website to WPCH - Peachtree TV.

Just saw a Peachtree ad for an upcoming show on the old TBS station.

Also, The Shaw channel listing saws Peachtree.

Peachtree bug is also on the screen.

It does list the MLB playoff games, so hopefully we'll get to see the NLCS. Don't want to miss my Cubbies, otherwise will have to follow the games on XM.

Sportsnet will have all the playoff games... no need for TBS in Canada

Looks like all games are in the afternoon. TBS or not, I won't be able to see the games.

737, that schedule is for the US national TBS feed, which we've apparently never had in Canada. We've had WTBS--now renamed/rebranded/relaunched as Peachtree. The rename was most likely done to avoid confusion over what's carried on "TBS"...like the MLB playoffs.

Scroll up to comment 69 in this thread for more of my ramblings on the issue (and ignore my references to Peachland...I meant Peachtree).

The new name sounds awkward - Peachtree TV. It still reads 'TBS' in the guide.

Yes, The guide still says TBS not sure when that will be updated. Rogers and Expressvu still says TBS.

I would like the national TBS HD channel in 2008, to get the Sunday afternoon baseball games. Rogers Sportsnet won't be showing these games, as they will be busy with the Blue Jays.

With Peachtree taking over for TBS can anyone tell me if The Office is still on tonight at 10pm? If so, which channel? I'm in Thornhill.
