Ok, I'll be honest, I'm a n00b when it comes to Home Theatres, so I might be missing something rather simple but right now I have a idea where to go further.
I've got a Sharp Aquos LC-42D72U LCD and a Yamaha HTR-5920, and I'm trying to connect the TV to the Yamaha via a TOSLink Cable. I can't seem to get any audio to come out of the Speakers reguardless of what settings I use. I've been mainly focusing on using the DTV/CBL preset since that's what the Yamaha says the Digital Cable connects to, but i've tried on all the inputs, and tried every setting I can think of on the TV as well to ensure its outputting to the Optical outlet. According to the Sharp Manual it should be outputing reguardless to the Audio output being set to Fixed or Variable, only difference being that on Fixed the TV's Speakers are also enabled (I'd like to disable them).
Now today I while I was trying to search Google for more information I was sitting there, reading and suddenly I got a new bits of sound. But only for about 30 seconds total and it was cutting in and out. On the display of the Yamaha you could tell it kept detecting the audio signal and then would loose it almost right away....and I haven't been able to duplicate this since.
Does anyone have any ideas or experience that might help me in this situation. The Fiber Cable is brand new (RocketFish from Futureshop) and both the TV and Reciecver are less than 3 months old. Perviously I had the audio going over a normal Left-Right RCA Cable set but I wanted to get proper surround sound going so here I am.
Thanks in advance!
