A current EastLink customer without digital cable - I know... :o
Is it time for me to take the leap? Are there good things coming down the pipe for channels? Would like to get that sports package for a few months - but don't know if I would use it much after that...
How long does it take to get hooked up? Can I do it myself? Also, what is the price for an additional box?

There's really not much worth watching on digital cable:
The diginets show the same programs over and over, many of which are also on analog.
TMN is really not worth the money. It has a few good HBO shows now and then, but I don't think it has any right now.
I got turned off PPV when I missed 20 minutes of "A Beautiful Mind" a few years back when friends came to the door. Also, it costs a lot more than renting movies at the Irving.
I do like the having the Music Channels, mostly for the kids music. I wish that they would add digital feeds of local radio.
The time shifting pack is ridiculously limited. NTV, City, and the west coast.
The new sports pack with NFL/NHL/MLB does look nice for sports fans, if a bit expensive.
The only reason I get Eastlink digital is that my small town cable system has 25 channels on digital that you big city folks get on analog. Things like Treehouse, Space, Showcase, History, and Comedy.
I don't see any info about prices for boxes on the site right now.

with digital cable you can only rent boxes from eastlink. The first box is free and each box is 4.95 and HD box is 9.95 and DVR is 14.95 you can get second hand box for around 40 to 50 dollars just make sure the box has no balancing owing and the box is not rented from eastlink. A few yrs ago you could buy a box for 149 plus tax but all you get is 1 yr warranty so it's better to rent.
