Sam The Record Man's Flagship Store To Close After One Last Big Sale

It's not often a store or building closing causes people to talk about the end of an era. The first time it happened in Toronto, Eaton's went bankrupt. Then Maple Leaf Gardens was consigned to hockey history. And now Sam the Record Man is shutting down its Yonge St. store where it's been since 1961.The icon will lock its doors for the last time on June 30th, ending a 70-year dynasty.http://www.citynews.ca/news/news_11504.aspx

I kinda hope those two giant red neon records above the entrace will remain there. I'll miss them if they're gone. They're such a part of the downtown Toronto landscape. :(

I remember going down to Sam's for their Boxing Day sale during the late 90's. The line up was always quite long. Had some great deals. I'll miss Sam's.

Did they ever create an online presence? It's a different world.
