Telus announced today that customers in more than 40 Quebec communities can now subscribe to the company's Navigator and Kid Find global positioning services (GPS).
Telus Navigator is a handset based service that provides real-time audio and visual turn-by-turn directions similar to in-car navigation systems. Customers use their handset to plan their route ahead and or they can from search for destinations from over 1.5 million points of interest. Similar to in-car navigation systems, if you miss a turn, the service will automatically re-route to ensure they get back on track.
Kid find is for subscribers who wish to keep tabs on other family members who are all on the same mobile phone account. Users can track family members through their mobile phone or on a web page on the Telus site. Interactive maps allow users to zoom in and out to see their family members' location relative to landmarks.
Navigator is $10 a month while Kid Find is $5 a month. Both require a one-time download that costs 50 cents per service.
