After a week of political brinkmanship, the PQ announced that it will still vote against the provincial budget but will not topple the government by sending only three of its 36 legislature members for the vote. Gee wouldn't have been cheaper to just have a new election?

I find this story incredible. The PQ is just NOT going to show up for the budget vote. It's really pathetic. IMHO, they either support the budget or they don't. Not showing up is an abdication of their responsibility

By not showing up they let the budget pass. I take that as supporting it.

The WAY that they are supporting it is a lame attempt to save political face.

IIRC elections aren't cheap, so the $111M is probably worth it. I think the PQ realised that if they forced an election now they might end up with even fewer seats so they caved.
