Until Univeral confirms or denys it's all a load of BS.

A few short weeks ago Samsung decided to support HD DVD which lead to this comment:

The Samsung news was hailed by Craig Kornblau, president of Universal Studios Home Entertainment and a key Hollywood supporter of the HD DVD format. The fact that Samsung, which for so long has been an exclusive Blu-ray supporter, is going the dual-format route "is an acknowledgment of the tremendous value that HD DVD brings to the early adopter of high-definition-packaged media," he said.

Kornblau and other HD DVD supporters believe the imminent entry into the open-platform HD DVD market of low-priced players from Chinese consumer electronics manufacturers will ultimately tip the scale in favor of that format.

"Look what affordable players did for DVD," Kornblau said. "DVD didn't really go mass market until the Chinese came in."

What could have changed in 3 weeks?

"Rumors circulating that Universal has switched allegiances to support Blu-ray are totally false. We are committed to a line-up of incredible HD DVD titles worldwide this year and continue to be a vocal participant in the promotion of HD DVD. The reality is that HD DVD continues to offer better value for consumers with the lowest prices for hardware, the highest quality content and superior interactive experiences."

Universal is circulating (via email) the above denial. Since they continue to release and announce new titles, I have no reason to believe it is false.
