Eariler this year, in the infamous Globe pulout HD section, TSN bragged about the amount of HBO boxing they were planning on showing this year.

So far, I haven't seen a single live match in HD.

Here's the insert:

They bragged about 17 fights this year.

It seems that TSN used the Globe and Mail to spread inaccurate information to the general public about HD content that TSN claimed would be provided to Canadians.

Corporate Canada used the insert to congratulate themselves on the status quo instead of looking for ways to improve it, refusing to admit that Canada is falling behind the U.S in regard to HD.

The purpose of the insert basically was to put a positive spin on the current state of HD in Canada in an effort to make the broadcasters look good to the Canadian public.

I've been waiting to see boxing in HD and if they said they were going to do it then they should get on with it. Boxing in HD should look awesome.

Just saw a TSN HD promo during the Sunday Night NFL game and no mention of HD Boxing.

MLB Baseball
Nascar
NFL Football
CFL Football
Poker
PGA Golf

Playing this month in HD on TSN HD.

No mention of Boxing, so don't count on it if they don't advertise it.

so james99, how would you rate dtv's HBO hd boxing quality poor, fair or good?

Folks have always deemed Directv's HD quality to be less than ideal. That being said, I've always been happy with it. With Mpeg4 STB's coming out soon, and more satellite space I think the critics will slowly disappear.

Let's say HD, regardless of quality, is better than SD with commercials.

If you have HD, then yes you will eventually need a new box. Here's a recent thread.

thats interesting, hopefully just having extra sats will allow dtv more bandwidth for hd channels, thereby better picture quality for even todays hd ird's.

Rollout starts Oct 1 for Detroit area DirecTV HD customers. They are "the guinea pigs". They will get new satellite dish (5 LNBF with built in multiswitch that will double stack - now SC subs will see that more than 64 transponders can be received with 22 khz switching). These HD customers will also get HD receivers swapped out at no charge - but there is no mpeg4 DVR at this time.

Another decent night of Boxing. Once again, no HD on TSN.

There is no reason that fight last night should not have been in HD.

Can anyone suggest an email we can get some answers from and raise a small stink?

Very entertaining fight, that is the big payoff of boxing, the odd time you see a boxer adapt or change right before your eyes.

They have never shown HBO boxing in HD (though they have advertised they have).

Good fight for Ricky.
