: LG Chocolate Slider - Keep It Or Not?

Hey everyone,
So for the last while I've been wanting a new phone so I finally made the move last night. I had a LG 4600 phone that I got 3 years ago that was starting to show wear and I wanted a new phone; the LG Chocolate Flip (LG 8600 - Telus Mobility) to be more exact. I went in, asked them if I could renew my contract and I was able to!

Here's the thing though, they were out of Chocolate Flips so I got a White Chocolate slider (LG 8500 - Telus Mobility) instead and they told me if I wanted a Chocolate Flip to bring it back when they had more and exchange it. But here's my dilema; I really like this White Chocolate now. Like it doesn't look suspecious when I'm using it in class because all flip phones are automatically noticed; this looks like an iPod.

My question is; Should I just stay with the White Chocolate (which I already love after less then a day of usage :p ) or go back and get the Chocolate Flip when it is in? And is there any main advantages between the two or any issues with either of them to watch out for?

Thanks!
- Barret

Congratulations on choosing the K1m. Did you get the regular silver one, the black one or the white one?

My big issue with the Chocolate phones is the touch-sensitive player controls on the outside of hte phone.....the fact that you can activate them simply by brushing your hand against them - that just seems like a huge downside.

I'm partial to flip phones, so I say go back for the flipper when it's available. But that's just me :)

I had a flip phone for 10 years and i was going to stay that route. However i just went to try the lg choclate out and feel in love with it.I have had the sliders for just over a months and there is not one con about this phone. The issues with the touch senstive keys has been fixed. With that said i can not see my self ever going back to a flip.

Haha, I got the regular silver one this time; a lot of my friends (and family) had a good chuckle that I chose the White Chocolate last time so I just got the silver one.

One question, how did you know I changed to the K1m? HowardForums or did I meantion it else where on here? :p

Anyways, this phone is pretty dam cool. My issues with the Chocolate slider and the reason I got rid of it was:
- Touch-Sensitive pads were very funicky in Mp3 Mode (but fine when not in Mp3 Mode?) and it seemed to lag a lot while playing music (this is my main mp3 player, no iPods for me)
- The large screen unprotected screen just brought horrors of me cracking it
- Slider mechanism already was starting to feel strange 6 days after use
- When I went to anwser a call and pulled the phone out of my pocket, I would always anwser the call by mistake

And personally, I would have gone to the LG Chocolate Flip if the Telus Dealer had no shown me his Krzr. Main advantages of the Krzr compared to the Chocolate Flip was:
- No Telus UI!!!!!!!! Not that strange Green/Purple theme Telus puts on all their phones (except the Razr or Krzr)
- Sexier design and amazing styling
- No need for a Data Cable; mini-USB right in the side and Motorola Phone Tools to upload and download objects from your phone
- (And the big reason) Loads the mp3 function right away with no lag due to it's specifically designed into the phone (unlike the Chocolates or other Telus phones which use the Telus Mobile Music java program)

It's just a way cooler phone that I think I will love
