: SaskTel records record profits and 51,277 Max customers

SaskTel this week released its 2006 financial results, highlighted by a net income of $72.5 million and operating revenues exceeding $1 billion for the first time in its history.

The companies Max Entertainment Services grew to 51,277 customers and increased revenues by $14.4 million from 2005. In 2006, SaskTel launched Max HD, the world’s first commercial launch of HDTV over an IPTV network.

The company said Wireless revenues also increased significantly to $260.2 million in 2006, an increase of 18.5% over 2005. Total wireless customers increased by 43,101 for a total of 411,918.

I'm not Hugh ... but, no ... SaskTel launched 27 HD services in summer 2006 (supplied by Bell ExpressVu in the back end). MTS offers about 8 HD services and first customers started to receive those around Nov, 2006.

MTS began offering HD service in Canada on August 23rd, 2006
Sasktel began offering HD service on October 16th, 2006.
