: Anyone using a DCT 6200 with Firewire?

I am having a real fun time getting the channel changing working dependably on my MCE firewire setup.

I have tried three different firewire cards to no avail. My setup in the main HT is running with a DCT 6208 and is working perfectly. Where Rogers does not support the firewire port, I can't call them.

What I will be trying tonight is swaping the 6200 with the 6208 and see if the problem follows the 6200 downstairs. My main concern with that being the deciding test is that I do not want to have to have one of those noisy 6208s in my bedroom and I also do not want to have to up my rental another $8.

Curses to my HDTV addiction :(

Ok, I have swapped the STBs around. Now the waiting begins...

It didn't take long!!!

The issue is with the 6200. Yay...

If anyone has any bright ideas, let me know.

I just got a new acer at3705 tv and bought a moto 6200. I want to learn about your set up and how it works. I am running a xp system now but plan to go to vista in the near future. So can you explain your system to me? I have a firewire card as well and i will need a firewire cable.

Thanks

Were you ever able to get the firewire to work on the 6200? I'm thinking of getting rid of the 6208 and using the 6200 with the MythTV.

Oh it works fine.

The issue is that once in a while (1 in 20 to 25) the channel will not change as planned. For instance, if you had a show scheduled for channel 243, it may miss one or two numbers and you may end up on channel 23 or 43 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 24. I hope you get the picture :p .

Typically, the one failed change is not followed up by another so you only lose say 1 show per week at the most.
