I see MLB is showing games on HD channel 485, however I don't receive that HD channel.

Is anyone in New Brunswick receiving that channel?

I've tried to contact Rogers but no real help from them yet.

Are the HD sport packs better with another provider?

Be great if anyone had some answers for me

Thanks..

I have been trying to access channel 485 for a few weeks now. I live in Barrie, Ontario. Since Channel 485 does not even appear in the on screen guide I contacted Rogers. One rep told me I was entitled to receive the channel and would open a ticket to correct the problem. A day later a recorded telephone message from Rogers advised me the problem had been resolved. It wasn't. I called back and was told the signal strength was probably too low. The rep set up a service call but put the incorrect date into Rogers system. I waited an entire afternoon for the service tech who did not show up. I called Rogers and was told the call was scheduled for the following week. The rep then told me channel 485 was not a part of the Sports Package and required an additional fee. When I disagreed he transferred me to the business office. The rep at the business office agreed with me and stated I should be receiving channel 485 with no additional charge. He then rescheduled the service call. A few days later the tech arrived and tested the signal strength. He informed me the signal was 'perfect' and that was not the problem. He then contacted someone at Rogers who told him channel 485 is not available in Barrie. The tech then asked the person at Rogers if he/she would speak to me on the cell phone they were using. He or she refused to speak to me. I find that very unprofessional. Needless to say the situation has not been resolved.

So, to sum up, who knows if the channel is available? Rogers' own employees contradict each other. They advertise the channel by listing it in their on screen promotions. Then they say it is not available everywhere. But all customers who subscribe to the sports package are paying the same price! I will phone them again Tuesday after the long weekend ends but I don't expect to get any satisfaction.

Aren't these channels "part-time" and are lit up only when there is actual content? I was under the impression there is a "bucket" of these which are used when multiple out-of-market HD games are on simultaneously.

Even though it is listed in the guide, I wonder if it lights up only on rare occasions. Is there ever content there on channel 485 in ON that's not in NB? I don't have the premium sports so I can't check either.

Regarding my previous post, Channel 485 was activated in Barrie a few weeks ago. I spoke to a supervisor in Cable TV Repair. I mentioned how frustrating Rogers CSRs can be when they give contradictory answers. I was informed the channel was available in Toronto. I then asked how Rogers can charge the same price for the Super Sports Pack but deliver less programming to some customers. I reminded her that Rogers controls the allocation of channels and seemed to be acting irresponsibly. She was very professional and promised to investigate. The problem was rectified a few hours later.

I might be wrong but it seems the frontline CSRs attempt to handle any complaints as quickly as possible to minimize the waiting time for other callers. Their primary focus is completing the call promptly not solving the problem. It should be the reverse.

I have one question. Is channel 485 available in New Brunswick?
