As previously stated by fami in another thread...(but I figured this needs its own thread as its a new feature)

Shaw now has Smart Ring or Distinctive Ring as they call it...The First distinctive ring number is free (If you have the Shaw Digital Phone package with the long distance included, if you only have Shaw Phone Lite...then its $3.95 for the first number also), and you can add up to two more for $3.95 each (For a total of 1 main number and 3 distinctive ring numbers on one phone line)

I called today and got it installed on my phone line, It rings two short rings when someone calls that number, and when you are on the phone it beeps two short beeps for call waiting, instead of the one long beep when someone calls the normal number.

Took about 15-20 mins on the phone, but that was because the rep had to talk to tech support as it was her first time adding this service. About 45 mins after I was off the phone, they called my house to test it and stated it was now working.

I have only had the service for a few hours, but seems to be working fine.... and for anyone that wonders, it shows up on the bill as $3.95 then -$3.95 Discount as this is the first number.

I know with MTS it is $5.65 per distinctive ring number, so for Shaw to be offering it for $3.95 per number, and 1st one is free, is a great value for me.

The Shaw Distingtive ring feature is a really good feature. I have been using it since Saturday. although I have recieved 7 wrong number calls since saturday they all call the distingtive ring line. Im happy with the feature.

Had this for almost a week now, its a great service, works great, and saves me having to look at the phone when that number rings as I know its not for me....its for someone else in the household.
