HT gearhead 2007-03-17, 10:40 AM Word has it Medicine Hat is getting a classic/modern rock station in the 102 FM range. I can't wait for that day. I'm sick to death of MY96 top 40 crap with endless Hip and Alanis Morissette. On a good day I can pick up Rock 106 from Lethbridge.
SuperDarrell71 2007-03-17, 07:03 PM WOW!!! Three new JACK formats!
magnet 2007-03-22, 10:38 AM 101.5 will launch as Energy 101.5 http://www.energy1015.com/ at 1:01 pm today.
The station, owned by CHUM Radio, is billed as Today's Best Music featuring a straight up pop music format.
The word is no hip hop, R&B or rock will be played. Station insiders also say listeners can even expect to hear hot vintage tracks as well. Though Energy launches today, the station's morning show with Freeway Frank and Meg Tucker won't hit the air until April 10.

SuperDarrell71 2007-03-22, 07:08 PM So, one step up from Lite 96, and one step below Vibe 98-5. Sounds EXACTLY like the old Mix 96 from Edmonton years back. Then again, Calgary never really ever had a HOT AC station, so this should fill the void.
I was hoping for a Dance station, but I should know better. After all, media companies have no imagine or balls to take a chance.
So if this is what 101.5 is offering, what's 90.3 going to do?
mike24 2007-03-28, 05:56 PM Hey HT Gearhead
I from Medicine Hat,Alberta Also I have not heard any word about Medicine Hat get a Classic/Modern Music Station in 102 range. I heard that the CRTC was seriously looking at approving 2-3 Radio Station here in Medicine Hat. so I think the CRTC will Approve 3 because the Applications that went to the CRTC back in October were diiferent and I think the CRTC will Approve 3 and I think they will be the following.
ROCK105 (Rogers Broadcasting) which would be a Broad based Rock Station
Classic 102 (CJVR Ltd) a Classic Rock Station
1182743 Alberta Ltd ( Adult Standards/Modern Nostaglia music format)
These Three are all completly different and many people would listen to because they appeal to different kind of Format from Rock Music to Classic Music to the Oldies.
This what I read at medhatblog.com:
Medhatblog has officially been up and running for one year. To honor this achievement, every day this week I am going to re-post my favorite topics from the past year.
One of the first posts we ever did, was breaking the news of another Radio Station joining the airwaves (we beat the medicine hat news, again).
The CRTC approval is slow, but the rumor is the decision is going to come down very soon. I received an email last week from a birdie we shall call JK, and he/she says the CRTC is seriously considering approving 2 radio stations for this area.
mike24 2007-03-28, 06:21 PM I was on wikpedia.org and they have a list of Radio Station in all areas of Alberta and I can across Medicine Hat and noticed that there are 2 New Stations that Medicine Hat is getting by the looks of it and they are.

mike24 2007-03-28, 08:04 PM I was on wikipedia today and noticed that there is going to be major Changes to radio airwaves here in Medicine Hat soon.
CFMY is not going to be called "my96" anymore it will be called "MY FM"
CJLT will be moving from 99.5 to 93.7fm
92.9fm will be the "new" Rock Station
102.1 fm will be the "new" Classic Rock station
to me that is going be major Changes to the airwaves in Medicine Hat in the coming months.it look like CFMY is going to brand itself as "MYFM 96.1" instead of 96.1 "MY96" and that CJLT (Alive 99.5) will be a new brand with a New Station Name when they move to 93.7. Plus the 2 new station will be added..
www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/list_of_radio_stations_in_Alberta
and scroll to Medicine Hat you will see what I am talking about. I would like to hear your comments..
HT gearhead 2007-03-28, 09:11 PM 2 new rock stations, woo hoo! I'm glad to see that My96 is changing it's branding somewhat. That old jingle is really getting on my nerves. Well, once the new stuff goes on the air I'll likely bump 96 off the presets.
Thanks for the updates mike.
mike24 2007-03-28, 11:19 PM I got a email tonight from Kim Johnston from MY96 and he told me that do to "Strategic Reasons" they could not disclose any "Format decisions" at this time and he told me that in Next couple of months Medicine Hat Listener will be be exciting for them and told me to stay tune. To me basically they are doing it because there losing Listeners in My oppinon for one and that they are doing it because of the 2 New radio Stations come to Medicine Hat. Plus the Alive 99.5 is Moving on the dial to 93.7fm which mean that there station ID is changing also.they have to do something!!. I think they will either do a Rythmic top 40 station simaliar to Vibe 985 and Energy 101.5 both from Calgary or a JackFm/Bob FM stations because I think they are going to try and Attract the younger Listeners from what I can tell. The MYFM thing sound like a JackFM sort of brand if you know what I mean... my guess is that MY96 has change with competion coming in....

102.1 FM is going to be on the air in 6-8 months
93.7fm is going to be on the air in 6 months
Most of the New Stations will be launching in the fall it looks like November
mike24 2007-08-02, 02:44 PM has anyone in Medicine Hat heard any rumors of 102.1 launching in September because someone told me the other day that 102.1 is going to be online in September but what I don't get is how can a station be online if they don't have a Studio,Staff and Equipment to run the station? I hope that this rumor is true. Has anyone heard any new Update concerning the other two Stations launching in the fall like Rock 105 or 93.7 (Christian Station) because it seems odd that with the Fall fast Aproaching that there has not been one update concern the New Stations coming to Medicine Hat in the Fall since they made the Announcement in June..
Big Stewie97 2007-08-02, 11:49 PM Mike, there aren't even any job postings for the new Med Hat stations yet. It WILL be a while my friend.
mike24 2007-08-03, 01:18 AM From what I am told they are launching in the fall... Do you work in the Radio Industry here in Medicine Hat or Something? because The Owner of Clear Sky Radio Mr. Paul Larson told me they plan to launch in September... Plus I talk to the Station Manager of ROCK 106 Mr. Terry Voth and also told me that they plan to launch either in October or November. Rogers Comunitcation is a Big Company were they can get there personally easy as they have contact across Canada to get Talent. I am also told that 102.1 is all most staffed already but they wouldn't tell who they had as they want them to keep in confideual...
mike24 2007-10-24, 09:16 PM I was on the Alive 99.5 website at www.alivefm.com and if you go to the host page and go to the very bottom of the page and read Scott Raible's Bio it gives you hints that his no longer the owner of the Station..
Scott Raible
CEO Scott is on an extended holiday, but still needs to switch to decaf coffee! He's still thinks he's the boss so shhh, mums the word!
if you read it they say he is on a "extended Holiday" and that " he still thinks he's the Boss so shh, Mums the word" to me they are basically saying he is not coming back... then I was listening the evening show a couple of weeks ago and noticed they didn't have a Evening Host and then starting on Monday there Saturday Midday Host was the Evening Host and they said that he was "filling in for her" but never said for how long and the evening Host is the Owners wife so it seem odd that all of Sudden the Owner of Alive 99.5 is gone and possible his wife is gone also. then 2 weeks ago I heard they hired a New Salesperson Name "Chris" but they had a Ex CFL player as there Salesperson so it seems really odd that he is gone too. Then a month ago Scott Raible went to Lethbridge for 4 weeks "for School" but alot of people don't realize that there is a Christian Radio Station down there under New Management by Golden West Broadcasting so my thinking is that Golden West Broadcasting is Now owning Alive 99.5 because he could of said I going to Lethbridge for school but then turn around and make a deal with Golden West Broadcasting to take over OwnerShip of the Station and not say anything to the staff till the deal was done because why would all of sudden the Owner and his wife both step down from the Station plus hire a New Salesperson when they have 2 all ready? it seem odd that this is all happening behind the scenes and no one at the Station has said anything on the air to the listeners to updates us on it... do you all think that it seem odds too? because I think there is some brewing at Alive 99.5 that no one wants to say..
