Thanks to all,

You should all work for Rogers. After no less than 4 hours of installing - failing - removal tool - rebooting, persistance pays off and Norton installed.

I am grateful for all the advice from the forum - Rogers said they couldn't help me.

Rogers protection centre seems to install on a new Vista now with no problem. (After uninstalling the freebee that Dell put there.)

Another example of Vista's MANY compatibility issues. As the article mentions there has been plenty of time for everyone to get their products upgraded to support it properly. It seems many vendors simply chose to wait until the release date to test their products! The backwards compatibility we have taken for granted with Windows products has come to end, it seems.

Oh, come on. I have Windows Vista and other than Nero, I haven't encountered any backwards compatibility problems.

I ran the removal tool after I spoke to a Rogers CSR. after the call I still had a problem with the registration of the software. Once again I spoke to a CSR and they escalated the issue and advised me that it would take 48 hours. I used the Symantic removal tool and went back to Avast. I recieved a telephone call from a Rogers CSR with in 48 hours and they advised that my issue had been resolved. I re-installed the the Rogers/Norton Protection Centre and all has been fine. A real pain with no answers to why or how they corrected the issues. If it does ever mess up again I will most likely not use it again. Good luck with any installations. :)
